I'll take a side-on pic of my truck at lunch today. I have OME 885s, Icon 3 leaf AAL, and 5100s all around on 265/75/16s

If you preload the front spring by using the higher perches on the 5100s you lose suspension travel and gain a lot of stiffness while reducing the life of your shocks. You can certainly do it, but for an extra $175 you can have a lot better riding/performing front end.

    you're welcome.

What height are you looking to go?

FYI, just measured again this afternoon and now it's 22.5 inches up front, both sides and 24 inches in back, I still have the overload leaf installed with a 3 leaf AAL.

887 coils and since this morning have now gained a half inch.

I am currently running some Dobinson coils and trying to figure out why I am where I am. I am supposed to get 2.5 out of it and my hub to fender is 22 and like you fluctuate 1/2” even on dead level ground. It really is amazing the difference in stance in that 1/2 inch or so. However 22 hub to fender is only a 1” lift so I feel like it’s gauged off second gen numbers? Just feeling a little frustrated. I do however love the ride as far as how the truck handles.

I'm the same way, handles great especially after I added aftermarket UCAs, rides great and still maintains factory stance.

I think there may be some compression if it sits overnight and expands slightly after driving a bit to exercise the suspension, might explain my difference in measurements. My first was first thing in the morning, the second measurement was after driving 20 miles on my return trip home from work.

You could add a 1/2 spacer to gain an inch without sacrificing ride.

Question.. not sure if this sounds dumb.. so existing OR Tacos are lifted 1” so by adding the 5100s you add another 1” - 1 1/2” for a total of 2”- 2 1/2” lift

There is no lift by simply adding 5100s with the clip at zero.

    My understanding is this:

The 3rd gens are taller than a 2nd gen by one inch already at the stock height but are heavier so the same springs will not lift a 3rd gen as high as a 2nd gen when measured center of hub to fender.

That is why you see different heights listed for 2nd and 3rd gens for the same springs.

There are 2nd and 3rd gen 5100s, the 3rd gen have more clip settings to get even more height selection than the 2nd gens.

I'm running 2nd gen 5100s and 887 springs. At install I was just over 2 inches. After settling I'm 1.5 inches which was where I was at with my old 885 springs.

The newer OME springs seem to have more settling over time.

That was my thought. I will probably do that. It’s going to have to wait as I am not very eager to get another alignment. It’s becoming expensive.

@jsinnard Can you elaborate on the part where u said "handling great after the UCA's"??? I've been reading your comments ever since you posted about your lift a while back. I'm looking to pull the trigger soon on your setup. Just wondering how much of a difference they make aside from fixing alignment issues. Thanks for any insight...

The biggest difference is the truck tracks better, steering feels more precise and much better tire wear. All likely the due to the aftermarket UCAs allowing more freedom to get a better alignment then forcing the stock UCAs to get as good as they'll let you get.

I like them a lot. It's funny, your post was the first time I had seen them, and then I saw some in the wild yesterday.

Therey are the stock uca. I have since went to the top setting, new alignment, added some 285/70/17 Toyo At3s and it rides even better now. Did a speedometer calibration from rough country and updated the tune to the new kdmax pro 9. Still no rubbing, no trimming and gas mileage is still around 18 give or take a little. That’s a good setup. Glad to know stock UCAs are fine. I read so many mixed reviews on stock springs and UCAs on TW. It’s prevented me from installing my 5100s for the past 6 months. I’ve been torn on the UCA, springs, and block conversations.

I hated the stock TRD OR suspension and changed it at 1500km. I had the same suspension on my 2nd gen and really liked it so went with the same on the 3rd gen. Later added the airbags because I always have a load in it for work in the bush.

I am curious if anyone has tried running Bilstein 5100’s with the stock springs and the Westcott Designs preload collar for the 5100’s that they now make. I am considering getting 5100’s, but keep seeing that running OME 888’s leads to sagging and that OME 886’s are not recommended to run on the 5100’s. I am trying to get to 3” of lift up front and the Westcott Designs preload collar claims to do that with the 5100’s.
