Anybody have any head on shots of the truck with their 885's and billies? I just want to compare my lower bj angles. I don't have a good head on shot of mine but I have a pic of my lowers. I'll post a pic of the head on shot later when I get the chance.

And be more worried about uppers than lowers, first.

I definitely need some uppers, but I knew that was coming using 885 springs.

You think using the 885's will blow out the upper ball joints?

Not exactly. I'm a 4 cylinder, so I have less weight to load on the 885 coils, which in turn doesn't make them compress as much and they push everything down more. That makes the UCA extend down more pushing the joint closer to max travel.
Extended length UCAs fix that issue. Some v6 trucks might not need it, some do. Bumpers, winch, etc. can help keep stock geometry as well.

I was warned of all this by local wheelers and Marie at Headstrong when I started searching for lift parts. But, the 885 allows me to add weight of armor and things later without needing to swap coils at that time. At least until they get worn out, obviously.

    More pics.
Also, I'm good on uppers, I've got SPC LR UCAs

Layman's terms as it was put to me:

When you install a lift, you more or less are pushing the suspension and wheels/tires down away from the frame further. Eventually, you have to lengthen those levers (UCA and LCA) to gain more height and keep travel.

im not so worried about the height. its the thought of having too much of an angle and wearing them down quicker. looking at others with the same setup, it looks like their angles are not as bad as mine.

I'm having a really hard time deciding between the full HS setup with 5100/885/aal and UCAs OR just getting 5100s all around (1.75" up front) and an AAL. I have a DCLB with 265/65/17 adventurer at3 that came on it and are like new but am worried they'd looked awkwardly small with the 5100/885 setup. Does anyone have any opinions or pictures of a DCLB with either of those setups? or both, preferably? Thanks in advance.

Also, i'd be lying if i said i planned on doing much off-roading. Anytime spent off payment is just this time of year for hunting.

I agree that it will look awkwardly small, but I'll also say that your ride will be rough with the 5100s and stock coils. I recommend going 884 coils instead, which will lift you up ~1.75"That won't look anemic at all. With that small of lift UCAs really aren't needed either.

Okay, thanks. I hadn't really considered 884s. Have done so much reading about the 5100/885 setup. I guess I'd like to avoid UCAs if I can and save the money for something else (reading on this forum makes me want to empty the bank account and do tons of mods).

Originally i had been thinking of decent amount of lift (nothing too crazy) and maybe wheel spacers to help with more of an aggressive look. I have TRD Sport wheels that are corroded to shit am in the process of sanding and repainting gunmetal now.

@PghJoe7 just keep in mind 3rd gens play by a different set of rules when it comes to coils and heights. You'll get more lift than he did.
