    This may be real dumb - I am positive you guys can illuminate that for me - but are 5100's generation specific? I am struggling to find confirmation either way.

    I'm just happy you didn't call them struts.... lol

    But yeah, they're entirely different trucks and share basically only the name Tacoma. I'm not sure there are really any part this in common, and least between the 1st and 2nd gens...

    Just to piggy-back on this, suspensions needs to to be replaced and am interested in the 5100's but vendors list parts#s specific to wheel size/lug bolt count. Is there a design difference other than length that makes one fit and not for another? Can I order for what is suggested for a 6lug or are there fitment problems?

    Truck is stock 4cyl, 2WD w 5lug, 205/75/15s but want to replace with 265/75/16s. Not wanting to go nuts (it is a 4cyl, 2wd) just looking for a little height.

    You're getting different part numbers than above because 5 lug trucks have different suspension than 6 lug variants.

    As @Kwikvette said, they are entirely difference suspension systems. THe pre-runner, which is a 6 lug, is essentially identical to the 4x4s, with identical suspension. Just no front drivetrain or transfer case.

    But that's a 32" tire. That same tire size rubbed the frame of my 4x4 with a 1" lift. Don't expect to fit a 32" on your 5 lug without a bunch of other modifications. Mostly a lift, and possibly fenders, wheel spacers/new wheels, etc...

    There aren't a lot of options to lift a 5-lug, but there are several people here who have done it. I would search around for them ("i.e. search: "lifting a 5 lug" or similar).
