Seems strange.... We had talked directly with Bilstein about the spring weight since my tuck has the extra weight on the front end. The stock 6112's come with 450lbs springs, I had those initially installed and maxed out without getting the proper ride out of the truck since those struts were designed for a stock truck. Bilstein said the max spring weight was 550lbs for the first gen strut valving. I know they make different spring rates for second gen and third gen tacos but not the first gen. Regardless been running the setup for about 2 years and I am going to swap them out for some Kings.

I have it currently set in the middle, I have a decent amount of lift out of them with a trail gear front bumper. I also had one of the first sets of these shocks so there is a chance they may have made a rolling change.

If I could go back I wish I had bought a proper set of coilovers, these are a huge pain to adjust ride height since you have to pull the whole shock apart. I plan on getting rid of these shocks in the near future for a few reasons.

Any update on the ride quality of the 6112s?

For as beefy as they are, I would rate them a step above your traditional 5100s in the stiffness department. I was a little concerned there would be very little dampening at all but that certainly wasn’t the case. I had them set up by hotshot off road for about 2 inches of lift. It’s a nice stiff ride but I’m not avoiding potholes.
