Well the lift on the bilstein 6112 set on the 5th notch had settled about an inch to 23 5/8 in the front from center hub to top of fender well. I wasn’t to happy with the way the cv angle was so I now had them set in the 3rd notch and going to install this weekend. Hope it brings it down to where I want. If not it’s going down again. It doesn’t take very long to get apart on a lift.

Or, the bottom perch, it's always better to pick the proper spring rate and spring length for the ride height you want. Increasing preload changes the effective spring rate giving a harsher ride.

    Description
Bilstein B8 6112 leveling kits are designed to provide more ground clearance, allow for larger tires, and increase wheel travel. Multiple snap-ring grooves in the body allow for different spring seat positions, providing 0-2.75 inches of front lift (depending on application). These kits consist of (2) 60mm shock absorbers combined with (2) custom matched cold wound coil springs and (2) billet aluminum spring seats. The large 60mm digressive piston allows for increased damping control for optimal on-road and off-road capabilities. Experience the legendary Bilstein off-road experience with the best direct fit spring and shock kit for your light truck or SUV.

Curious what spring you used with the 6112s?
And if you’ve been happy with them this far.

Trying to gather more info about what spring I can use with the 6112s. I want a 3” lift but don’t want to max out the the 6112s on 5th clip

I have 6112s on my 02 , they are on the 2nd and 3rd to top notches and I have nowhere near 5 inches of lift .

Installed mine 3 days ago on 5th clip. 2011 DCSB 4x4. Sitting at 23.75 inches center of hub to fender currently. It has come down 0.25 inches since initial install. Hoping it continues to drop as the springs settle. I’d like 23 or just under.

*** EDIT (3/28/20): I have since dropped mine down to the 4th notch and it is 23 inches center of hub to fender. CV's had too much angle and I did not like the stance at 5th notch.

Hello 07 Tacoma toy, this whole thread was just my learning curve in installing the kit. I’m sure I had only 2 3/4”-3” of lift not 5”. That came from the measurement from before any lift and my taco was extremely low in the front and why IDK maybe cheap Chinese coils with weak springs?? Any who as for tour lift I don’t mind the ride at all. It’s definitely stiffer than stock cools but it’s a good ride. Not like it’s annoying or anything. Also another piece of advice I will give is I would only go with the 3rd setting in the 6112 because when you lift these tacos you’ll have those cv shafts at hard angles and that’s not great for them. Also what lifting these trucks 2.75-3” you will definitely get a driveline vibe from the front left differential cv axle. This is a Toyota design flaw. They used a real bearing inside of the right side of the front differential and a needle bearing in the left side. At stock height it’s not an issue although I’ve heard of people having problems. Thats why I readjusted my 6112 back down to the 3rd setting. I still had the intermittent left side differential cv axle cube. At first I said I didn’t mind it but I eventually did. I fixed it by installing a metal bushing coated with Teflon on the inside and it also is oil impregnated sonic get lubricated in the front diff. East Coast Gear Supply has made in just for this issue and it it smooth as butter now. Stay at the 3rd setting or lower. IMO.

Oh sorry. The metal bushing replaces the needle bearing on the left (driver side ) in the front diff. The cv axle goes into it and there is way to much play in the cv axle and that’s why you get the intermittent driveline vibe.

Currently running 4th clip, along with many other people with this setup, and CV angles are just fine with no fins touching. Also driveline vibrations can be due to the angle of the drive shaft. This vibration is different than the one that comes from the OEM needle bearing and is either fixed with shims or a solid driveshaft. Some people have them and some people don't. One of those things you don't know until it's done. I replaced my needle bearing with the ECGS bushing prior to lift install as preventative maintenance.

Edit: I see you are an AC which does make a difference in heights and therefore CV angles. I know HeadStrong Offroad does not recommend 5th clip for a 4x2 but I believe this extends to AC as well.

Like your rims Travesty! Back to the future-ish! The AC cab will raise a little more yea. That ECGS bushing is nice isn’t it? Was really impressed with it.
