Search ECGS on this thread or just in general. Most likely is the stock oem needle bearing which has to much play in it when the teeth inside start to grind off and as you said it goes away in 4WD it’s most likely the case.

Other things you can do is shims on the leaf pack and/or get your tires road forced balance. I keep hearing the falkens come out of round from factory although I never had an issue when I had a set last year.

    @BFT18
Last resort is the dealership depending if they’re cool folks. There is a TSB on the needle bearing and they may decide to give you the new one. However the problem may come back as it was modified a bit but isn’t smooth inside like the ECGS one.

Or if they really cool folk they will install with the ECGS.

    Good luck.

The ECGS fix is what I have been reading up on. I know its a 2nd gen issue and there is a TSB out for it. I have a 3rd gen with 43k miles, and extended warranty. I will talk to a dealer and see what they can do for me. I had the tires on for a day before lift and they felt great.

The needle bearing issue is for all Tacoma’s. They’ve been using it since the 1st gens. Some have issues the moment they lift or later on or I’ve heard stock tacoma had problems. Toyota knows it’s a problem as why there is a TSB. Hope your dealership helps you, most just blame the lift but heard some do help.

If it goes away with 4x4 engaged, then ya its the needle bearing. Gotta do the ECGS bushing kit.

Shout out to the TW community! TW saves the day with a late night search on exactly what I was looking for. Looking to get the same lift as described above. Great minds lol

    Long story/short write up.

Found Rogue Off Rode after almost finding the end of the internet. Had exactly what I was looking for with tires, suspension and leaf. Pretty much the same set up described above. Prices were impressive against many others - almost too good to be true. I see them mentioned in this thread positively so I am feeling good. Good experiences so far?

Getting ready to drop a ton of cash with them, and would appreciate any feedback anyone would be willing to share.

I purchased my whole set up from Rogue. 2nd gen 6112/5160 and ome leaf pack. Price wise, they do have a lot of other shops beat. Customer service wise, I must not have had the same luck as others I have read about. The guy I worked with only answered half of my questions and the ones he did answer were very short answers.

I had to call them yesterday to determine where I should set the clip setting on my 6112's and I just didn't get a lot of help in my opinion. Their shop on FB doesn't like to answer questions and always suggest to call them which I finally did. The other thing that bothered me was that when I was asking the questions and deciding my setup I asked if the 6112's came assembled and they told me no, but never told me they had it as an option until I saw another post of theirs months later that they offered that service so it's just the little things for me.

    So long story short

Rogue has the best prices, but I feel Headstrong has the best customer service so as long as you can find all your answers online, then Rogue is good for the price point. Others may have had great service and you may as well, but wanted to share what I experienced.

So I just ordered the eibach 700# to replace the springs that came with my 6112s. I lost 3/4 of an inch when I put my TJM bumper on and I plan on adding a 10,000lb winch. I will have them swapped out and let everyone know the ride difference.

I'm sure this has been asked in the 101 pages of this thread...BUT...instead of using a 14 inch spring and moving it up to the 4th or 5th position on the shock would you be better off using a 16 inch spring? Would that produce too much lift? I could be wrong but I can't find a 15 inch spring to fit, at least an Eibach. Am I incorrect in thinking that moving the spring up to the 4th or 5th position is pre-loading the shock thus a harsher ride? I definitely dont claim to be a suspension expert. Thanks everyone!

I have a 2nd gen with a plate bumper and winch, I figure if I buy new coils I may as well buy them longer and not have to worry about moving up positions.

There’s only a 14” coil for this. You have to get something custom. Just go up on the clips and follow the Bilstein chart for lift suggestions.

People replace the stock coil with a 14 inch 650lb or 700lb coil, correct? What's to stop someone from using a taller coil? This is the coil I'm referring to https://www.summitracing.com/nv/parts/eib-16002500650s/overview/

Buy it and let us know if it fits. AFAIK no one has attempted a longer spring on the 6112s

Most people including myself, replace it with these when they’re adding weight in front.

I'd definitely be more inclined if I could find a 15 inch coil. Everything I can find jumps from 14 to 16 inch. A 16 inch coil would be a 4 inch lift right? That's obviously too much if that's right. Like I said, I'm no suspension expert so I wouldn't be surprised if there was some glaringly obvious flaw to what I'm proposing.

3rd gen 6112 and 5160. Goal was to level out the front to the rear stock height. 6112s are set at 4 and 3 perches. 1st day the fronts were about 3/4 inch higher. 3 days later and about 100 miles of driving, they've settled to less than a 1/4 inch higher. Hoping for it to settle a little bit more with some miles.

When I was installing the 5160 on my truck, I noticed that one of the strut didn’t rebound back when I compressed it with my hands to fit it into the perches. The other one did. Is it a blown/defective shock?

I just installed 5160s over the weekend. Both my shocks were under compression via plastic straps. When I cut them, they both expanded and require some force to compress them. Once downward pressure was removed, they expanded again...

I would call Bilstein customer service...
