the 6112s I’ll be mounting on my 2013 have the clip set on the 2nd botch from the bottom on both coilovers. I’ll be installing a 1/4” spacer on the driver side coilover. If I don’t like the spacer, I’ll take it out later this year.

The rear is also getting new leaf springs, General Spring KC HD leafs, to be exact. Will be matching them with 5100 shocks.

This setup should level out nicely left to right and not give me any taco lean.

Why not just go with the 5160s?

I don’t need the extra travel that the 5160 provide. Save a few bucks by sticking with the 5100s.

I went with the 5100s on the rear also and I'm very happy. But Damn the 5160s look sexy

Damn....I thought I was undergunned!! I have 5125s in the back and it feels in the wrong league.
How are the 5100s in the back?

Rides and handles great. Immensely happy. Just doesn't have the cool factor of 5160s.

Not just cool factor. I ran the 5100's for 4 years and yes they are solid shocks. BUT the 5160's are superior in every way, not to mention the extra travel. I measured 1.25" extra droop after installing them without any other changes (why they give you the brake line bracket). That to me is icing on the cake. I felt the 5100's get hot a couple times after some hard offroad drives. So far the 5160's have never gotten more then warm for me matching the 6112's. Definitely worth the price difference. The only concerning thing for me is the exposed shaft, I wish they came with boots.

    Pretty much.
I have the 5160s. After a 30min sandy, wash boards, whoops drive through a state forest with some guys. Which for some reason wanted to average about 25-30mph through it. 2 Jeeps and 1 truck, their shocks were just leaking oil badly. I felt mine, warm, but no ware near hot.
So, if you can take advantage of their ability. Get em. If you just need good DD, maybe once a month FSR roads. 5100s are perfectly fine.

If I was a more hard core Wheeler the 5160s would have been my choice. I Wheel , just a lot slower. Lol

Ok guys I emailed Bilstein regarding the spacers and they recommend NOT to install a spacer. They recommend against it.

    Hello,

We do not recommend using a spacer to correct the “Toyota” lean the install sheet below has been calculated to correct the lean in the snap ring settings.

@NYCTaco52 It doesn’t matter if you run the 1/4 spacer to correct the “lean”. People rock crawl with them and they have no issues. However I still tell people not to add a 1/4 spacer just for the simple fact it was not designed and developed to have one on. If I had to guess the 600lb spring that comes with it can’t hold the weight which causes the lean. When I upgraded to 650lb springs, the Lean was gone. I sit dead level up front on 6/5 setting. @Tacosrus
Good choice, I wasn’t impressed with the 5160. They rusted easily with 1 season of salt, and I felt they didn’t dampen very well offroad with a loaded and unloaded bed for the extra money. I tell people to go 5100 or extended 5100 version. Then if that isn’t enough I tell people to go 8100 in the rear like me and that is an extremely great combo. I just came back from cape lookout on a loaded bed of 350-400lb and it soaked up all the bumps. When I had 5160, it felt like the rear was gonna explode.
