A progressive add a leaf will ride well. If you are going to be carrying heavier loads, get a new leaf pack. There are certain leafs you can remove to soften the ride.

Icon has one, toytec does as well. I think the progressive add a leafs decrease payload, but they can tell you for sure.

    Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah, I just noticed it'd rotated slightly from where it was installed and reached down to see if I was able to spin it by hand. They seem to have settled into a position they like now, haha.

Icon/ToyTec/Wheeler's/HeadStrong/Deaver 3 leaf progressive AALs are all manufactured by Deaver to the same specs and then are sold to each company and receive their specific label. They're all the same, outside of price tag - Icon is the most expensive sticker.

No decrease in payload from the AAL itself, but if you remove the factory overload leaf (as the instructions call for) you'll lose 10% of payload capacity, per the manufacturer.

I just installed my 5160's today and called and spoke with a guy in tech. He told me the 6112 will have 9 notches for the 3rd gen to offset the taco lean as well as the Rebound will be adjusted. He also confirmed the run will take place next week and its likely that 4wheel parts will be one of the first to get them.

On a side note, the 5160's ride very nice compared to the stock shocks from the sports... those are garbage. Even when I took them out they were so soft I cant imagine they did anything to aid the ride. It took almost no effort to depress the shock.

I have a quick question, I just put the 5160's on and its calling for 20lbs of torque. I cant get my torque wrench in there cause its limited space. How are you guys torquing those down. When I torque it down to snug it feels loose but I dont want to crush the rubber spacer. How have you guys dealt with the rear shocks and limited space. All my sockets are too short cause of the thread or too long being a deep socket and prevents me from getting the wrench in there

I just used my best judgment on torque. the shock can twist and it's normal.

Are you putting pressure on the bushing and did you use locktight? I brought them to tight and put tiny bit of pressure (compressing) on the bushing but Im concerned about it coming loose during off roading or camping. I think I cant reuse that nut so I think I have to order a new one.

How well does the 5160 pair with the Dakar springs? I'm assuming the shock bottoms out before the pack reaches full droop? How do they feel on the road? Off-road?

Also is yours a full pack or did you remove a leaf?

From the research I've done, it seems like they aren't long enough, plus not everyone needs RR. I will be using 5125's with my Dakars but some also use the 5100 (B110).

How's everyone's 6112's holding up after some road time?

I've got about 6000 miles on mine now and they've settled quite a bit from when they were freshly installed.

    Notch #3

    Day of Install:

    6,000 miles later:

Which, it's fine. I'm pretty much sitting dead level now, but I was surprised that I went from slightly over 2" of lift down to about 1.5". I'm not nose high anymore, but I think I'll have to bump up to notch #4 when I decide to do the AAL on the rear.

A couple of things: for one your showing different sides of the truck, and was that first pic right after install or after driving around a bit. Also do you have a spacer on the drivers side? I have a 1/4". Mine maybe settled 1/4" to maybe 1/3" so far after 4 months or so (3rd setting also). That looks like more than a 1/2"? I also noticed a difference when i loosened the LCA bolts went down the driveway and back then retorqued - it dropped 1/8". I originally torqued the LCA bolts while it was raised - mistake. I have about 1" net lift in the rear with the stuff in and on the bed and it sits right where I want it for now. Still riding sweet though on and off road.

Mine have been great. 4th notch and it settled about a half inch from the install. I am now about level. Would like to have some rake. I have considered going to the 3rd notch. Maybe next spring.

Mine are snugged down with rubber bushing compressing out just a bit. have not noticed the nut backing off yet. Blue lock tite is probably a good idea.

Have over 5k on mine. much better road manners.

The shock will bottom out on the Dakar. only downside. but not by much. no I don't have measurements.

Off road this suspension is awesome.

I really think the improved on road manners come true with aftermarket tires. since these tires are usually bigger and heavier, the stock suspension just isn't designed for the increased unsprung weight.

The stiffer springs really cut down the nose dive the TRDOR suspension has.

Thought about that too. I really like the height of the back though. I didn't want too much total and do like what it is in the rear.

Valid reasoning....it just seems like the MUCH easier option. I'm now thinking with mine I will need the Dakar AAL after it's all said and done. Bed rack, rear bumper with tire/fuel carrier, RTT and then gear will be a lot for the Dakars alone.
