My truck is still jacked. I swear when I put the front shocks on I was a little over 3 inches. Dakars still holding at 24. Front's are like 23 and a quarter. Don't know how my STOCK UCAs haven't exploded by now.

    edit: On 4th notch btw

Hell no! Wth anyone would use spacers after getting 6112 is beyond me. The only spacer I have is the 1/4 spacers for the taco lean in. Ride is great. Tracks pretty well given I am using stock UCAs. No real vibrations. I barely notice the one at around 20mph. However I do have the: CBD and Diff Drop installed.

Actually wheelers recommend spacers for my 6112's on my standard cab. They are setting them up at 1.6 with spacers. I'm looking for 2- 2 1/2 to go with jba uca's and Alcan rear leaf springs. Hoping for a better ride with a less pre loaded coil over. Should get my stuff Friday. Hopefully I'll have time for some wrenching.

How anyone would recommend spacers with 6112 is beyond me. If you fully compress any application specific coilover and there is a spacer the shock will max out before the bump stop is making contact and break.

    Thats just common sense

Actually have that covered. The driver side is 1/2" spacer while the passenger is 3/8". I'm just going to machine some spacers for my bumpstops the same thickness. I'm a jeep guy and this is my first 4x4 with a arms (way more complicated than straight axel). This forum has been my knowledge base while I've been putting together my lift the past few months. I don't think I'm sacrificing much up travel for a better ride, since this is my daily driver.

Just bolt on the damn coilovers and use them. You can barely notice a taco lean on a dirty truck, a princess your gonna see it lol!

I've been wondering if there was any difference between the 5100's and the 6112 shock other than diameter. People say that the 6112 rides better, but it's hard to find someone that has actually had both. Someone in another forum somewhere had posted up that the compression and rebound forces for each shock are the same per Bilstein. That made me wonder how much "better" the ride could be with the 6112.

So I did a bunch of googling, and I think there are other mechanical differences between the two. I found this diagram of a 5100 on a jeep website. The page called the shock part of the 5100 series, although it has a shield for the rod which is out in the open on a Tacoma.
    BILBilsteinShockBreakdown.gif

A vendor on Ihatemud posted up some pictures of the internals of the Toyota TRD Pro shock, which is either a 6112 or an 8112. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/trd-pro-bilstein-shocks.823503/page-2

I also found this video that shows the insides of the 8112. (I thought it was a 6112, until someone gently pointed out that I had it wrong.) It has extra pistons that seem to add a second stage to compression and rebound. The video is pretty new (11/16), but it's not on Bilstein's website.

So if the 6112 is built like the 8112, there is a substantial difference. Otherwise, it's just a bigger 5100. I wish Bilstein would just put this info on their website.

That video looks like it's for the brand new 8112 series shocks, not the 6112s.

Watt maker, thanks for posting up that info. I'm leaning toward the 6112's, because I can't justify the Icon/Fox/King, and I don't really want to rebuild them. My OME's have about 70k on them now, and they're feeling tired.

That's what I was thinking. That shock is impressive. Now I'm curious to see a demo on the 6112 inner workings. Now that I've had a chance to run them in many different situations on and off road I'm very happy with the performance. Hopefully the last shocks I'll buy for the Taco - except the rears which the 5160's are tempting. Naw the 5100's in back are still good. Dont really need RR's since I dont punish them.

I installed my 6112's Sunday. Had 1/2 and 3/8 top plate spacers installed with third notch. Front end was jacked. Removed top plate spacers and measured 22 1/2 drivers and 23 passenger side from fender today after some settling. Just a little front end high with my Alcan 2" springs. Hope to settle some more if not maybe add 1" block to rear. Going to get an alignment tomorrow with stock tires and wheels. In the spring I will make height adjustments when I mount tires to my F5's. I'll get some pics up.

You must mean these. My plan is to wait till spring but these wheels keep telling me to mount them.
