    1. No not really, you can do it but a lot of people don't because it can interfere with the possibility of putting on a aftermarket skid plate. Just be aware of your CV angles.
    2. This is not true, both blocks and an AAL will lift your truck but an AAL will also allow you to carry a little more weight without jacking up your OEM leafs. It should not be a little stiffer but not so much that you will really notice.
    3. I have a 1/4" top hat spacer on my driver side front. 2nd gens are more recommended to do this but not 3rd gens.

    Other things to think about:
    1. Do you have a carrier bearing drop?
    2. Do you have an ECGS bushing?
    3. When running 285/70/17's you will need to do a Cab Mount Chop, or you will rub

Thanks for the quick response. I didn't think of any of that to be honest, I new to all of this.

what exactly will the carrier bearing drop & ESGS help me with? I'm looking to keep my taco for a long time so if it helps with longevity, I'm all for it

There's so many different opinions on the cab mount chop I don't know what to believe, are you running a similar set up to me?

I think the spc uca are the way to go.
I'm not sure about clip setting for you, I'm heavy with 700# coils, I'm at 4th clip.
Some think 5th could be stiff.
    I'm happy with my settup.
    1) not imo, I didn't
    2) I liked my aal, gave me lift and could carry more
    3) most add the spacer

You're going to like your setup

i would highly doubt you are maxing out your 600lbs springs. unless they were some huge passengers.

i also say look at your sway bar and end links.

    1) Not needed.
    2) Ignore him... maybe even consider going to another shop. No way a block will give you better performance than an AAL, ESPECIALLY the Icon 3-leaf AAL.
    3) Yes, you'll need it if you set both sides to the same notch setting. I used a 3/8" on mine and it got it pretty close. 1/4" is common too.

The carrier bearing drop lowers your driveshaft carrier bearing a small amount to help align your driveline angles a little to compensate for the added angles you will add to the driveshaft to help prevent driveline vibration. It is a small price to pay for something that will help not throw your driveshaft into heavy vibration at specific speeds.

    https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/store/p126/Old_Man_Emu_Carrier_Bearing_Drop_Kit_-_FK29.html

The ECGS (East Coast Gear Supply) bushing replaces your needle bearing in the driver side CV hole of your front differential. Tacomas are notorious for getting a small "clunking vibration" when you lift the front end of our trucks.

    https://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-8536125-toyota-8-clamshell-bushing-eliminates-needle-bearing.html

Keep in mind that when we do lift our trucks, even if done right, there may still be a small amount of driveline vibration due to increased angles in your drive shaft. Keep in mind that every Tacoma is different. Some axles need to be "shimed" with angled axle shims to help bring the driveline back into the correct angles. Mine didn't need them but my buddy Chris needed 2° shims for his. Like I said, every tacoma is different unfortunately and you won't know until you get your lift on to determine whether or not you will need them. It's not hard to put them on though as long as you measure your driveline angles before you do the lift and then afterwards. There are many videos on YouTube about how to measure your driveline angles.

Even though all of this seems overwhelming, it's ok...once done right, you will love it and have years of problem free riding.

I am running 285-70-17's on my tacoma and if you do choose to go up to that size, you will need a Cab Mount Chop or you will rub. I have a cab mount chop done on mine and there are no issues. Do not do a cab mount relocation, just the chop.

    https://www.bayareametalfab.com/CMC-Cab-Mount-Chop-Brackets_p_15.html

A competent welder will get this done for you and the link above even gives them directions on how to do it.

Also keep in mind that depending on your gearing (whether you have the SR5, the Sport, the Off Road, or the pro) adding a tire like the 285, will add weight and give you a small sluggishness when you step on the gas. Bigger tires= more weight and also make it harder for the differential to spin the wheel. A lot of people get a re-gear done to help them with this but once again, it depends on your trucks specs and gearing. Since you have the sport, you have 3:73 gearing and you will notice a big decline in gas mileage and almost feel a loss in power or torque. I have a DCLB sport with the same gearing and I will eventually be doing a regear to help but I am running very heavy most of the time. Remember that bigger tire "look" cooler and give you more clearance but it comes at a price. Regarding the lift and the ECGD bushing, go into one of the regional forums in your area and see if there might be a shop around your area that people trust. Or even have a couple of TW guys get together with you to help you install everything. I have a big install day tomorrow actually at my house where four of us are installing Archive Garage Hammer Hangers on one 2nd gen truck, and a full lift a 3rd gen truck.

I'll be crawling under the truck in the next couple of days to make sure all the hardware for the skid plates and sliders is nice and tight. I'll have a look at the sway bar while I'm there. Thx.

    No huge bodies.

Bilstein 6112 gurus I need some advice..I had 6112's installed 4 months ago and recently had additional work done by (Sibi Built- the top taco shop in CA) where they informed me the original shop installed 4runner 6112's Part#47-259768 without my knowledge and claimed it was do to short supply and the shocks are virtually identical...

Original installer has agreed to replace with Tacoma part#47-234413 if I so desire. I am currently running both 47-259768's at the top notch with a 1/2 spacer on the driver's side. My ride is soft on the max setting which a prefer.

I understand 4Runner 6112's are 10% softer and 1/16th of an inch shorter, i'd like to keep them if there is no disadvantage overtime along with no loss of significant ride height. Please let me know your feedback fellas, good or bad... Build details and ride current ride height below.

Sibi said there should be no issue just wanted to hear some additional feedback. My ride height up front seems a little short compared to some numbers I’ve seen, would love to hear what you guys are seeing on your 6112s when at the top notch.

Tightened the skids and sliders up and still have the thump noise on passenger front. Sway bar ends don't appear to be touching anything. Next I'll start by taking the skids off and continue the process of elimination.

Meanwhile here's some 6112/5160 on 6/5 clips with rear aal

So I'm running the same setup up front as you, but I'm an access cab (so can only run 5/4 up front I believe) and instead of full steel RCI skids I have the aluminum RCI skids, and I don't have sliders...I lost a fair amount of height just installing the alu skids on my 600lb springs so I got some 650lb to put on but haven't yet (I'm also going to be adding a SSO full plate bumper). I can imagine with your setup you may have lost a bit of height too since you are even heavier than I am. I was having some weird clunks also and it was my sway bar endlinks, I replaced them since one was torn open and that noise went away. I added front superbumps and that has helped, but it looks like you added durobumps as well. I did notice I have some scratches on the coil and UCA so that might have been causing noises as well. I thought maybe I was topping out when I first installed them, I'd notice a thump sometimes going over speedbumps but that has gone away since it has settled quite a lot. It's a pain tracking down the noises on these things sometimes!

Quick question since you mentioned bump stops. Do I need to replace my factory front bump stops with a taller ones? I only have the 6112 on the 3rd clip but it is definitely taller than stock. I have superbumps in the rear with the aal. I was looking at superbumps for the front, and noticed that wheelers sell shims/spacers do I need to add any if I purchase a set?

Much appreciate the feedback. I took the skids off this weekend and that did not solve the issue.
I talked to a local off road shop today and I'm going to take the truck in for a diagnosis Probably get the SPC ucs's and the ecgs bushing installed as I have a small vibration and my steering is pulling a bit to one side.
