To account for the taco lean, should I use a spacer on the driver’s side or lower the notch on the driver’s side? ie. 4/5 notch setting

Lowering to the 4/5 settings is the correct way to do it. You want to lower the passenger side though. Driver side usually sits lower because of extra weight on that side.

@Maxx is correct....you have a 3rd gen so having the shocks set at 4/5 (5 on the driverside and 4 on the passenger side) is the correct way to counter the taco lean. A 2nd gen 6112 only has 5 notches and a 1/4" top hat spacer can be used on the driverside to correct for the lean.

Currently getting my alignment done and the tech says he can’t get the driver side to spec like the passenger side due to the different clip settings (5/4). I told him to get close and see how that does. Thoughts on going 5/5 with the clips???

    Sounds like you need UCAs.

Does anyone rune the 6112/5160 setup sans a lift? I was probably just going with 4600 all around for my OR, but the ride quality of the 6112s sounds superb.

I have had mine on for 3 1/2 years and still love them and sing their praises anytime I can get. They are not the cheapest out there but they will be, IMO, the best bang for the buck out of ANY suspension setup out there. Keep in mind that the rear leaf the you put in also make a huge difference. My advise outside of the 6112/5160 setup is 1. an icon AAL since your leafs are still somewhat new, or for a full leaf pack, forget OME dakars, and either go with ICON RXT's (more budget friendly) or Deavers (more expensive but worth it). Dakars are putting a band aid on a broken arm and they will eventually let you down. I have had both the Med Dakars and heavy Dakars. I am upgrading to Deavers and pissed at myself for the money I spent on both OME leaf packs.

6112’s are well worth it. I’m still not sold on the 5160’s but I’m sure they will be better matched when my Deavers arrive.

What don’t you like about the 5160’s?

Not enough compression dampening for stock leaf springs. I hit my bump stops on the reg. Deaver Stage 2 springs shipped today so hopefully those will pair better. Will switch to 14” 7100’s down the road though.

For what it’s worth (relative to JBA UCAs), I just put the 6112s on at 5/6 clip settings, no spacers, and with the JBAs. The alignment shop supposedly put me into exact spec but it pushed my front wheels to the back of the wheel well and I was rubbing with 275/70/17s. I had them adjust the caster out of spec just enough to get me better centered and to alleviate the issue.

Yes, more caster doesn’t mean clearance. It’s more of the opposite actually.

Honestly the biggest misunderstanding on Tacomaworld. More caster only means more clearance when you move the lower control arm forward.

Yeah, I’ve considered making a infographic and a thread on the subject. Maybe I’ll do it if I have free time and remember.

the problem is every truck and control arm combination is different. 3 degrees with SPC can be completely different that 3 degrees with TC, Camburg, Dirt King etc. The angle stays the same but the placement of the wheel in the fender well can be completely different.

Hey guys, I have 6112/5160’s and an Icon AAL that I’m ready to install but wanted to know what setting I should set the front to. Currently I have a 1.5” rake and would like to keep my rake at about 1”. I was thinking of doing the 5/6 setting but is it bad riding on the highest circlip? I also was going to add 650lb springs instead of the 600lb’s because I have some steel skids and eventually will add the bumper. Let me know guys! I’ve come a long way but trying to sort out my questions as they come along.

Just set mine up at 5/6 and my wife now hates the ride of my truck. I’m actually thinking the harshness is mostly from the AAL. But, I do think the ride would be better on 4/5
