Yes. They are wider at lower mount. I hammered the lower ears open in addition to hulk smash.

    Question on mounting 5160s-

I purchased the 5160s and didn’t realize they come with the mounting bracket, so I also purchased the other type of mounting bracket that connects the two shocks like the ones linked below

    https://www.bilsteinlifts.com/shop/...hgKFhKC0yd1nTu3GSSvnen_b3sF2n0ZEaAhTQEALw_wcB

Is one better than the other? The brackets that came with the kit attach to the frame, and the other brackets connect the two shock bodies. I’m trying to decide if I should just send the other set back, or if mounting them side by side is a better option.

    Any advice is appreciated!

I prefer attaching to the frame. Have installed both ways. On the frame there is less chance of the reservoir rotating and hitting a leaf spring or Tire. Looks cool either way though!

Yeah. I pried them open as much as I could, but the inner side was tough to spread.

If I had a table grinder would have shaved it down. Don't think it would have been fun or straight using my angle grinder.

I'm surprised they would sell a kit that involves spacers on top of a 6112 for added lift. I would not stack spacers. Either live with some Taco lean, do 3/8 on the driver side and 1/4 on passenger side. Or last resort would be 1/2 driver 3/8 passenger.

Bilstein 6112's 5th clip 1/4" spacer driver's side. Icon tubular UCA's with Delta joint, wheelers superbumps, ECGS bushing. Allpro standard leaf packs, 5160's, U bolt flip kit with wheelers super bump's, extended stainless steel brake lines, carrier bearing drop. Icon rebounds 17" with Nitto terra grappler G2's 285/70/17's.
I have the same kit except my 6112's are both set on the 5'th notch for around 2' 1/2in up front (with) a 3/8" spacer on the passenger side and a 1/2" on the driver's side for lean. I already have them but haven't installed yet. It's what they recommended and I had similar questions. I would think you should do a 1/4" and a 3/8" on the 6th notch. You should call them if you want to be absolutely sure. They're all top notch guys at Wheeler's. Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the reply!
With the leaf spring replacement being reported as a 3" lift, and the truck already has a 1" rake, I think I need to do something for the front.
In both of your recommendations you have a 1/8 delta in the spacer thickness. Do you think that will come out level (not leaning)? I have seen 1/4 spacers for taco lean most places.

Everyone's set up is different. You can install the same lift on 2 of the same trucks and get a different result. Unfortunately you just have to make the best guess and put it together with fingers crossed. You may need to make adjustments to your lift after install with different size spacers. On my Land Cruiser I've gone through several different lift options, and I'm still not fully content ha.

They told me 1/8" should take care of the lean for me but I have a 3rd gen if that makes any difference? I'm with superdave on stacking spacers. I personally wouldn't do it. As far as the allpro standard leaf packs holding 3" of lift, I doubt it. I think they'll settle some. I have a factory tonneau cover and it's a heavy sob! Along with the bed mat I'm hoping I'll be fine. It's what I'm banking on anyways. Hope this helps.

I was wondering that also, I'm thinking of doing the rear first and seeing where I'm at after a few miles.

    Here's my 2cents
2nd gens only have 5 clip settings I'd go with 4th clip on both sides or 5th clip on passenger if you have a lot of lean, sounds like you want some lift.
I'm on 4th clip and like the ride a lot think 5th clip would have a nice ride too.
Use 1/4" spacer on driver and 3/8" or even 1/2" on passenger side.
If it ain't enough get a bigger spring from accutune cause their great and have a spring exchange program.

The front suspension leverage ratio is 2:1

If you add a 1/2" spacer you will gain 1" of lift.

If you decide to add spacers above the top hats, make sure you lift the truck and get full front suspension droop and ensure there are no clearance issues with the coil spring and the upper A-arm. The suspension will droop more with a spacer and there is risk of coil spring/upper A-arm contact.

This was my 3rd gen with clip 5/4 (recommended max by Bilstein) on a AC at full droop

Edit.. as the lower shock mount drops down it moves slightly in since the lower control arm travels at an arc.. not just straight down. The springs are larger diameter on the 6112s and have more potential to contact the upper control arm when this happens.

Is that right? don't I need more lift on the driver side?
Wheelers said they would come both at the top setting and there wasn't an option to have them set to your liking.

I think I am shooting for 3 inch total lift in the front.
