So I've got some weird tire wear and figured I'd start asking here. The inside edge of the front passenger tire is wearing fast. The truck is a 2014 Baja and has Bilstein 6112's up front and 5160's in there rear with a Dakar medium duty leaf pack. The fronts are both on circlip 4 so according to my sheet that is 2.15" of lift. My driver side is about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch lower than the passenger side so would dropping the passenger side one clip fix the ride height? What about the tire wear? I'm not sure if it needs to be aligned or if the difference in ride height is causing the tire wear. If I adjust the passenger side to be lower, will I still need a spacer on the driver side?

this definitely sounds like an alignment issue. The aspect of the lien should not make a big difference regarding tire wear. I would also look at how much PSI is in each tire as well

I’m also on 4/4 and have the exact same thing for ride height. The tire wear is likely alignment and not lift height related.

I’m thinking of adding a spacer or going up to 5 on the driver side.

sounds like it’s typical taco lean.

I think I'll drop the passenger side to 3 so the spring isn't preloaded as much. Don't really want any rougher ride now..

Thank you for confirming its just an alignment thing. I found a shop to do the shock for a reasonable rate (coming back from a stroke and not strong enough to crank the bolts now) so going to get that done this week when I get new tires too.

I’m looking for the same setup. I’ve got full skids and sliders so far. looking at a 6112 either 3/4 or 4/5 and I’m not sure if I should go with 600# or 650#. I don’t want to lose a bunch of comfort.

I think 600 (that's what comes standard right?) would be fine with that setup. If you're planning on adding a winch and bumper, then think about the 650.
I've got the same setup and it's fine at 600 lbs.

6/5 650lb coils gained lift back. With 600 settle and weight 600 wasn’t up to par.

Edit: if you're looking for ~2" of lift definitely 650 with a full set of skids and sliders, that's more weight than you realize. The 650 coils are gonna be much better suited to handling it, I wouldn't sweat the ride comfort at all

4/4. It’s definitely got a lean to passenger though.

How long does it take for 6112’s to settle? And how much do they settle? Had mine installed recently on 4 and 5 setting and as of now it gained 2 inches of lift.

Wow, what a monster thread. Sorry if my question was already answered, but it's sort of time consuming to read all 5364 posts.

I installed 6112 with 600lbs springs, set on the 3rd notch, on the 2nd gen 2006 trd dbc offroad. It has a US Offroad winch mount and a Badlands Apex 12000 winch. That added about 120lbs to the front. Rear springs are the ones Toyota put on in 2020, no other lift, with 5160s. Running stock 265/70-16 tires for now, but plan to go to 265/75-16s soon.

Now have about 300 road miles on the setup, none off road. Really like the ride. It's definitely an improvement over the worn out stock setup.

My question is what sort of settling should I expect from the front springs? I prefer a slight forward rake, and the truck is level right now.

Here is what I measured in inches from the axle center to the lower fender

    stock front and rear
    RF 20.125 LF 20.125 RR 21.375 LR 21.375
stock front struts with winch, 5160s in rear
RF 19.875 LF 19.875 RR 21.875 LR 21.875. No, those rear measurements are not typos. The 5160s added about 1/2" to the over the older stock shocks.
with 6112s set on the 3rd notch
    RF 21.875 LF 21.875 RR 21.875 LR 21.875

I'm hoping the front settles. If not I'm looking at lowering the front by a notch, or adding AALs or blocks to the rear.

    Thank you for any information

When I first got my 6112's 4 years ago, with my 2nd gen, and when they were originally on the 600 lb springs, it took about 4-5 weeks of different type of driving for them to settle after the alignment. I had mine on originally set on the 4th clip at first and then went up to the 5th clip 3 years later. When I went from the 600lb bilstein springs to the 650lb bilstein springs, it took about 6 weeks to settle with those as well after install.

OK, a couple of things to unpack here. First of all, I am wondering why your rear height went up 1/2" if you didn't add anything to the back for lift except for the 5160's (which don't provide lift). Wondering if you added the winch mount and winch after the install or added it during the suspension install and lifted the rear a little when you weighted down the front, like a see-saw type of thing.:notsure: If you have the 6112's, made for the 2nd gen with 5 clips, and you are on the 3rd clip now with the bilstein 600lb springs, the 2 inches that you obtained with the winch on stock struts to the winch on 6112's is normal after install. It should settle "about" 3/8" (maybe 1/2") from about 6 weeks of consistent driving. That is what happened on mine even though I started on the 4th clip. Mine, when they were first installed, I measured about 2.5" of lift and they settled to 2.15" on the 4th clip after 6 weeks. Keep in mind that I have a DCLB and is "a little bit" heavier than a SB. So if you have a DCSB, this is why I said about 3/8".

    How much did they settle?
