Ive had suspension sitting in the garage since thanksgiving. I bought wheels on valentines day and finally got the truck put together on Saturday.

I need to do the same with my Baja front shocks. Is that a ball joint press held in a vice? I'm hoping to be able to borrow the tool from Autozone/Advanced Auto Parts and swap out my bushings soon.

Yeah it’s a big Snap-On one that my buddy loaned me. I’m sure a normal Autozone ball joint press will work as long as you have large enough cups.

Just got an email from a vendor that the delay in 6112 stock is two months. Keep in mind, this was for a 2nd gen specific request.

Shop press makes super easy work of that job. If you can find one to use.

A 1 1/8 socket fits perfectly to press the bushing out.

I think I’m going to adjust from 4/5 to 4/6 this weekend to try and level the truck side to side. I am 1/2” low on the driver side front and back from the lean so going to adjust to position 6 which should level both the front and rear truck some. We shall see.

Gas tank empty ? Half full ? Or Full. Will affect lean also. Maybe try 1/4” spacer instead of moving clip setting?

My ride height doesn’t change much with 650# springs in the front and Deaver Stage 2’s in the rear. Raising the driver side front should transfer some weight to the rear passenger side and level the truck out side-to-side. No need to use a spacer if there is adjustment in the coilover though. If it was a coilover with a threaded body, you wouldn’t add a spacer, you would adjust preload.

Going to top clip minimizes down travel and the side affect of topping out. The small spacer doesn't negate down travel but rather makes the max dampener extension slightly greater and slightly improves down travel. I posted a few videos that cover this several pages back. I would not go beyond a 1/4" spacer, if using spacers.

I've considered pulling my front dampeners and dropping the clip on each to one lower position and using a 1/4" spacer on top instead to gain down travel yet retain the same lift height.

I was told a couple weeks ago I wouldn't receive my 6112's until May. I was surprised when they showed up on March 10.

I’d say you were very fortunate. Assembled or no?

I think so as well. I got them unassembled. I've got new KYB tophats to go on them.

I went the same route. I’m sure that helped you get them early. Got the KYB’s sitting here waiting patiently, 6112’s are supposed to deliver tomorrow.

Have you seen a torque value for the top nut that secures the 6112 to the top hat in any of the instructions?

Found it, having an off day. 20 foot pounds, BEFORE relaxing the compressor.

Question for anyone who has assembled the 6112’s without using the truck’s weight:

How do you ensure the top hat is oriented correctly with respect to the shock’s bottom attach point? If you don’t have this alignment set perfectly, will the top hat rotate at all once assembled? Seems like, under pressure, there would be lots of friction preventing rotation. But surely all these shops assembling and shipping shocks have some way to do it, or the orientation doesn’t have to be perfect.

the guy who assembles them should know to assemble them in the correct orientation... it wont be perfect. but it will be damn close. then just use a pry bar or a socket extension to straighten the shock body into the LCA mount

The guy who will be assembling them in this case…is me. I think I can just align one of the top hat screws with the side of the shock mounting point and I should be good.
