Bolt the top hat to the bucket and then use the trucks weight to compress and install the spring. I will post a dumb video if anyone needs the basics. Spring compressors are trash and dangerous unless you are using a wall mounted one.

just line check the position of your factory mounting hat before you final assemble the shock and do your best to eyeball it. ive got a buddy with a shop I do most of my work at. you'll be fine

I’m using a spring compressor stand. Much prefer to assemble before installation so installation is easier.

Does anyone know of these two washers is the top washer and which is the bottom? One on the left is slightly smaller and more cupped. Ridiculous that the directions are so poor.

The other question, since the lock nut at the top has a torque value, is this torqued with the spring compressed or no?

The top nut torque value doesn’t matter. Just tighten it until the shaft starts to spin. Cupped side towards bushing and larger one on top.

so i had my 3rd gen 6112 on the 6th setting in my 2nd gen tacoma. kinda rough ride.

just set the ride to the 3rd setting and took it for a spin around the neighborhood....oh my. so much smoother. cant wait to actually drive somewhere tommo and see how they perform. also curious how it will look with the rake now.

    Quick question.
Installing 6112 soon. Should I lube the bolt going through the bottom of the shock and lower control arm? Or go in dry lol.
I ordered them with the 3/4 setting

Installed these bad boys yesterday. Side note: tried to install the ECGS bushing, couldn’t get the back plate to lie perpendicular. Messed with it too much and it dropped into the bottom of the diff. After much thinking and praying, I tied a nut to a line and lowered it into the bottom of the diff, fished it out, tied the line to the backing plate and was able to pull it back out. Miracles do happen people!

I have these on the 4th clip for 2nd gen so 2.15” lift. Haven’t gotten to the Icon RXT and 5160 pairing, since I spent all my time and emotional energy on the damn ECGS bushing yesterday. So what I have right now is basically a Carolina squat.

Drove it around a bit today and it was exactly what I was hoping for. Firm but not stiff, nice and planted in turns, soaks up bumps. Super happy. However I did get some vibes on the driver’s side that were like a very very slight rumble strip. Would appear for a second, go away for a second. After about 20 minutes of driving around, that completely went away.

Still going to take the truck in to have the bushing installed. But yeah, happy to have made the right choice with which coilover and which clip setting. Can’t wait to install the back and enjoy the complete ride.

Talk about luck.. that must have been an emotional rollercoaster..

I think you will find the front end softer once you get the back end raised up.. it forces more weight on the front suspension. I took my lift install in steps, with the front first, and found after raising the back the front suspension was completely different (in a positive way).

The bottom bolt? No, just clean it with a wire brush. Or just make sure it’s clean and put it in. No lube required.

just make sure to torque it to spec once the truck is on the ground. So you don’t rip the bushings on the shock.

Ive got some vibes (seems like drivers side) basically the same rumble strip as you. It doesnt seem like a diff/needle bearing related issue as my driver side CV has 0 play. Ive ordered a carrier bearing drop to see if that cleans it up ($18). Most people say it will. LMK if the bushing does take care of it!

Easy needle bearing check is when you get the vibes, engage 4wd and see if it goes away once engaged. If so its the needle bearing, if not you know to look elsewhere.

I got the vib as soon as I lifted it, like him. Only get a slight vib on at 30-40mph. need to find a spot where I can get the truck up to that speed in 4wd. trucks got 15.5k miles.. does a needle bearing really go bad that quick?

Needle bearing vibes and rear drive line vibes are the two that happen immediately after lift. Neither are bad they are just different angles on joints that cause different outputs

Needle bearing due to the angles of the CV axles post lift you will notice it from the front end noticeably the driver side, ECGS bearing fixes this one and engaging 4x4 is the test.

Carrier bearing is due to rear drive shaft angles. Getting a digital angle gauge on the different parts of the drive shaft. Members have used carrier bearing drop kits as well as angled shims for the rear to angle the rear axle to point the 3rd member to align with the drive shaft a little better. Some use only one or the other, some use both, some never get it worked out and go single piece drive shaft. It mainly depends on the truck.
