Reservoirs also allow for more shaft travel in a given body (length).

I just ordered mine so I can't compare yet, but all the reading I've done says they are stiffer than stock and users report less brake dive but speed bumps and pot holes feel bigger, especially at slow speeds.

They are expensive compared to 5100 shocks and spacers, but everyone I have seen who went up to 5100 then to 6112 said they regret not going 6112 right away. Then again, nobody really complains about 5100s either and most people say they are a great value for upgrading over stock.

6112 is definitely an improvement over stock, just look at the side by side comparison.

If you really care about the ride and you have extra money, look into digressive vs. linear/progressive valving and figure out which is right for you. Fox and King use linear valving, but obviously they are insanely expensive for most people.

Thank you! There are a lot of choices out there and it takes a ton of research. I don’t mind paying more and getting the better components from the beginning. As long as they last and give me a ride that feels right. I don’t do any serious off roading, I just want it to feel a little more sure footed on the road and not quite as “floaty/bouncy”.

Agreed. The more I drive mine the more I like it. It's very planted on the road. I come from a Sport, so can't compare to the float of an OR, but I often say that the 6112s are what the Sport should have been.

I was thinking of running Niagara Rim again that weekend, but I have never been to USAL, and I missed your last trip.

I would have to leave after work on Friday afternoon but I could get up there around 7:30 pm.

I’ll be at Gold Lake Aug 12-14 and plan to run to Deer Lake and the Sierra Buttes Fire Lookout on Aug 13.

That’s sick to have the mountains and beach camping so close! Everything seems so far from “The most Southwesterly Town in America”! Hope you guys are willing to share some pics of the adventure…

USAL is pretty far North from me and will take about 4 hours to get there. Most of the National Forests are about 3 hours away minimum. Don’t get too jealous, everything isn’t that close.

That’s not too terrible though. Sierras is 7, Yosemite is 8! I do have Big Bear 3 hours away but it’s always crawling with those tan flesh covered things in flat bills that call you “Bruh” trying to buildup their IG portfolios! Hahah…

Yeah! That’ll all change end of this year. Moving to VA so I’ll have to give up Mexican food and learn the trails in that area. Bright side is the Outterbanks is pretty close though!
