I think it is true in "most" cases but I feel like I have read some threads or experiences where they did get some rubbing. Essentially "no guarantees/buyer beware" is all. If they made those skinnys in a C rated I would do it. I don't need the weight of an E rated for what I do.

Edit - Apologies as well, above I said might require Cab Mount Chop. At most you might need to do some trimming, taking a heat gun to some plastic and reshaping it. Or like you said, might not be an issue at all.

Edit 2 - Also research is the 33" skinny will fit in spare tire area under the bed. I can't remember off hand what I have read.

Does anyone that has put the newer 6112s on a 2nd gen have some input on actual ride height and ride quality at specific settings? Looking to get mine figured out as much as possible before installing them. Thinking of going 8/6.

Placing an order shortly. Where the lowest prices y’all have seen recently? Or anyone know someone selling some lightly used 6112/5160?

Didn’t have spare cash a couple months back and missed out on a set new in box for 1100$ :(

I got mine off wheelers. They were the best price and free shipping which was HUGE.

Some nice shiny new UCAs to go with the 6112s. Amazing driving experience now. Huge difference.

    Are 6112s rebuildable?

I pulled my original set off the truck with 120K miles.

If rebuildable, would probably be cheaper than buying a new pair.

We’ve never rebuilt a set here as they’re known as non-rebuildable from the Bilstein folks. However, I have heard of a shop in Cali that does rebuilds on them. The name of the shop is slipping my mind at the moment…

So, I guess I can't send them back to Bilstein for rebuild... :(

I hate to just toss them.

Wonder what the market is for used 6112s...............

So... I've been doing a lot of reading through this thread and tire size threads in anticipation of lift & new tires in the spring, but I just punctured a tire and since it's too close to the sidewall to plug and they're pretty worn worn down the shop is recommending replacing at least 2 tires since they don't have any good used tires right now. Needless to say, I'd rather replace all 4 with the ones I really want. Looks like I'm gonna move on this a lot sooner than anticipated.

I'd like to get some quick feedback on it and get it ordered ASAP. Here's what I'm looking to do:

    2019 DCLB OR
I don't do a lot off-roading and only occasionally carry heavy loads of hardwood. The only extra weight right now is a 70ish lb tonneau but will likely add sliders in the future.
I'd like to maintain the stock rake.
    • 6112s - set to 5/4
    • 5100s
    • 3 Leaf AAL (no OL)
    • JBA UCAs
    • ECGS
    I'm planning to run either:
    1. Method 16x8 - 0 offset wheels with either Goodyear Ultraterrain ATs or Wildpeak ATW3s in 265/75/16
    2. Method 17x8.5 - 0 offset wheels with Wildpeak ATW3s in 275/70/17

What do you think of this setup? Do you forsee any rubbing issues with either of these wheel/tire combos or have any other recommendations?

you could run the 265/75/16’s on stock wheels with stock suspension and you wouldn’t rub.

I guess what are your really looking to accomplish? You want a better ride or do you want to lift it?

better ride, slight lift, set the 6112’s to 3/4 or 4/5, at that height, you probably don’t need a UCA, you’re probably good on the ECGS bushing too. I’d scrap the 5100’s and AAL. I’d go with a 5160 and a full replacement leaf pack, RXT’s on option 1. Run the 275 section tire. It’ll look good

AALs ride like shit and really don’t do much IMO. Block the rear end or do a pull leaf pack

Yes, better ride/slight lift. My goal is a 1.5"-2" lift with bigger tires and new wheels as I hate the stock OR wheels. I don't want to go to 285s and the only reason I'm considering the 265/75s are for MPGs, but I'll most likely go with the 275s. Probably a good call on waiting on the UCAs and ECGS unless I really need them.

I am the guy that preaches do the bushing, do the UCAs, but that’s if you’re really lifting the truck. Doesn’t sound like you want to go that high with it or fit massive tires. Keep it at 1.5” and you won’t need the stuff mentioned above

Makes sense. I was looking at it from the perspective of, get it all done while it’s apart. Then if I want to go higher or bigger tires in the future, it’s done.

Another happy customer here for @memario1214 !! Super easy and knowledgeable to deal with, great price, shipped quick. Got them pre assembled on #10 notch driver side and #8 notch passenger. Rides like a dream, nose dive when braking is GONE, truck feels firm and planted. Huge upgrade from 5100’s and stock coils

What size tires are those? They look BEEFY. Might just be the access cab effect.

Are 6112’s worth it if you don’t go off roading?

I don't have 700 lb springs yet, but I plan to add them. I have a 280 lb utility hard cap, an 80 lb lumber rack, a 200 lb ARB bumper + recovery point, another 100 lbs of underbody armor, 120 lbs of rock sliders, a class IV receiver hitch (OEM) -- and that's before putting anything in the cargo area. I think it'll work out pretty well.

Bilstein doesn’t warranty or recommend 700# springs on 6112’s. Valving. You let me know how that works out for you.
