Top setting with .25” shim on drivers.
So after about 1000km these are no what I expected. Coming from a 2017 tundra with 6112 top setting with .5” shim on both sides I thought I was riding on clouds. On the tacoma they just feel like big beefy hitachis. They soak up the bumps a bit better but then get ready for the aggressive down travel. I feel like bilstein could have figured out a better designed shock length for these on top setting to stop with top outs. When I get a chance I’m gonna drop to a 4/3 clip set and chuck a 1” spacer on each side. As for the rear with the 5160 and icon 3 leaf kit, it’s a little stiff but that’s expected and when I’m loaded up with rtt and gear i know it will be 100% better.
This is just my review and opinion. I have nothing against bilstein and ain’t trying to start anything.

100% agree. Most kits do not allow for enough down travel. I have the ready lift 6112s where their top hat equates to about a 0.5"-5/8" spacer. I've reduced the clip setting to just under 2" lift and rides like a dream. From my measurements I have just over 3" down travel. As this is more full droop than stock you may want to measure if you could get that extra inch down with a 1" spacer, you might get in to binding ball joints or stressing the uca/lca bushings.

This set up with one 111 leafs and swaybar delete allows the front and rear to flex out completely and evenly. With the sway bar it was restricting flex by a couple inches total. Lowering the preload with the spacer will also help flex as the compressed spring force will be lower.

Anyone running 6112s on a 2012-2015(double 4x4 v6)? I currently have 5100s set at 1.75" sits level no issues, They have 75K miles on them so I am looking to replace them soon. Should i go with the #9/#7 clip settings for 1.8" of lift? Or should I go next higher and allow for settling (it shows 2.2" which seems too high)? I assume I still will not need new UCAs going over to the 6112 and staying under 2"?

Any of you doing mostly daily with a mild lift on the 6112’s? (Aka not high enough to have to replace the UCA’s)

Looking to keep my truck under 2” lift with factory-ish rake. I dont tow anything but I do camp w 4 adults and a loaded bed w camping gear.

Been going back and forth between Bilstein and Dobinson. (Truck is currently bone stock) Budget is approx $1700 with AAL or replacement pack if needed. Just trying to get the best bang for my buck, and last at least 10yrs plus.

Colton is the man. I told him what I was looking for. Slight lift with a near level look. 10/8 setting on the 6112's and a 1" block in the back with 5160's. Rides like a dream and its my daily driver. You will be in your budget with that setup. No sleeve, no control arm issues, no rubbing, no vibrations or weird noises. I couldn't be happier with it. Took me a friend about 3.5 hours to install and I am far from a mechanic.

The problem is, tundras have like 11inchs of travel stock, and tacoma's have 8ish stock. The Tundra can't be lifted beyond a certain point just like the tacoma, the difference is the tundra as less of its travel available to ride height largely due to the CV angles, and the steering racks.

So with a spacer, and being at the top perch, you get, really aggressive dampening, no down travel left in the suspension, a ton of preload, and a other suspension components that are not intended to work well in that range of the travel arc.

If you want it to ride well, drop the truck to the middle range and loose the shims, or get an actual lift kit to bring the factory geometry back.

I am running 6112s and 5160s on my Baja set at the Baja height. I daily the truck and do a good bit of dirt blasting into areas that require the locker and low range. I like the ride. I will say I agree about new leaf packs. And would also say, mileage and use will be more of factors then years for durability.

Going to have to dig around and see what would be the best setting. Usually summers and road trips is where Id pack my gear. Spent a few years trying to make sure all my stuff was packable, considering the small bed and I wanted to be a minimalist. (Only other gear Id carry is 2-3 bikes, coolers, work gear) nothing too extreme or heavy duty. No 4x4 just a peasant RWD w LSD.

    Yes, I did.

Inexpensive, and not hard to install. Well worth the peace of mind.

Just want to say... my 6112/5100 setup is still going strong after 45K miles. Best $$ I ever put into the truck.

I would still recommend at least an add a leaf. My truck struggled doing a weeks worth of gear, food, the wife, and our other equipment, on the stock springs with just a covered bed full of stuff. All of our camping gear was UL stuff for backpacking.

Im going to search around and see who offers the best deal, if I have to wait a little longer. I may as well just replace the leaf pack while Im at it. I dont mind waiting. Hell the truck has been stock since date of purchase in 2017 lol.

My stock baja suspension (basically at 6112), went a 140k, and there were a lot of smiles made that way.

Is that option 1 or 2 on their chart?

3 would be out of the question since I donny plan on getting a topper.

Also apologies for all the questions. Are these the most reliable cost effective leaf replacement pack people are running? As opposed to OME/Dakar, Deavers etc…

There is a great thread over here on the RXTs if you are looking for more info. I have a 2nd gen DCLB with a toolbox in the bed, high lift, and full size spare on option 2 and I love the RXTs. Im moving up from 5100/887 to 6112/650 as soon as it warms up. my 5100s are getting soft with all the weight I have added since lifting.
