Im sorry if im asking the same question again even tho its probably been answered already, i was reading throught some of the pages on this thread, I recently purschaed 6112 and 5160. The front I have them on the 11/9 setting. I got these from Shock Surplus assembled. I failed to take measurements before and after the install. On the website it states it add 2" of lift to the front but after the install im still not satisfied of the look. I recently came across the Readylift 3" front and 2" rear that utilizes the 6112 and adds a 0.5 top hat to the shock to achieve a 3" lift. I wish i wouldve seen this kit before. But my question is can i add a spacer to the top mount to achieve a 3" lift? i also want to know if any one has done it. I will add picture of how it looks currently with the 6112 at 11/9 and 5160 with no AAL.

I went up to the mountains this weekend, for the first real drive with the 650# springs. I am very pleased.

I did not measure, but it looks like the truck sits a tad lower with the new springs - expected. The truck does ride smoother. The lighter springs now allow the shock to do it's job. I sure wish Bilstein had 650# springs years ago, when I installed the 700#.

I am not running a sway bar, and I don't think the lighter springs added any additional body roll. (I know, the job of the spring has nothing to do with inhibiting body roll - but the 700# springs did.)

Overall, very happy with the swap.

I went the other direction from 650 to 700. I get what you mean with the body roll though, I removed my sway bar and on 650 it seemed a bit more roll than I'm comfy with as my DD. I have an older set of 6112 with only 5 notches and wonder if the extra adjustment of more perch setting might help with that?

With both the 700# and 650# springs, I am on the top notch. I get more body roll than I would like, but you get used to it. I don't drive this truck like a sports car. I have had to make several emergency maneuvers (once with a trailer) and the truck handled just fine.

Lowering the perch setting would remove some of your spring preload - not sure how it would affect body roll.

Figured i'd finally throw a picture up as another data point for anyone looking in the future. 6112-clips 9/7-650# springs, 5160-icon rxt option 2. Can't recommend the folks at Hotshot enough!taco.jpg

New lower shock bolts at dealer is like $20.
Kinda ridiculous for some bolts that get messed up quick.

Anyone simply use strong stuff from a hardware store?

what’s the ideal setup for a 2nd gen with weight on it and RXT pack?

im thinking to switch from RXT op3 to op2

figure out the clips on my old 6112, max height
Scale one down from that, and one above that at left front for Taco lean

don’t know if it will be too high or cause issues

I buggered up one side then had to cut the other stock one out because rust belt and what not. I used Grade 8 hardware of the same size from the local hardware store. I haven't had any issues and they fit just as snug as the stock ones did.

Hello all, I'm a lurker/suspension install noob and I've come across an issue and I'm dumbfounded.

I followed this video by total chaos and did not mess with the LCAs.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbsTJgb6S_c&t=37s

    ISSUE:

Installed the front shocks and UCAs. Tightened not torqued all the bolts from the swaybar, spindle, lower shock, top hat bolts, UCA uni-ball and UCA through bolt. I put the tires back on, lowered the frame, and saw that I was still getting the stock height I started at. Any ideas as to what the issue is? I tried disassembling and reassembling and everything looks o.k.

    Front

    -total chaos UCA

    -Bilstein 6112

    -Circlips set 6 driver / 5 passenger

    -600 spring rate

    REAR

    -Bilstein 5160

    -Deaver stage 1 u402

I did not do the needle bearing swap, no diff drop, no carrier bearing drop, no shims in the rear, it is all stock except the front shocks, upper control arms, rear leaf springs, and rear shocks.
Rear is fine, deavers installed and 5160's are a-o.k!

Should the sway bar be removed? relocated?

    TIA!

Looks like you have the new version 6112’s They have more clip settings. To get 2” of lift you need to set those at 11/9 I believe.

Google how to use the LCA compression to disassemble/reassemble the coilover. If you can install it preassembled you can use this method to change the circlip setting. It’s easy.

Think you could just put a 1/4" spacer on the driverside for the lean and run them on the 11 clip

Ordered 6112’s and 5160’s on Friday from Hotshot! Called and talked to Colton about the right settings and he was super helpful. Excited to get these on the truck!
