Ok thanks, well I think it looks great! I have the FN fx Pro as well and I still think they're some of the best looking wheels out there for our trucks.

Just curious about your feedback on bigger bumps to see if the shocks top out being set so high. The Bilstein Tech I just spoke with said that the ride will be better if I keep the clip position a little lower to allow the shock to remain more mid-stroke versus up towards the top. Makes sense...I don't know why I didn't think of that myself.

I realized that the ride could be better if set to 2nd highest but actually like the ride just fine at highest #6 setting vs stock OR suspension. As long as there isn't a safety issue or more chance of some sort of failure by setting 6112 to highest setting then I'm completely content. Plus, I gotta admit the truck will be mostly driven on road and if going offroad then it won't be anything crazy.

I would imagine you'll be fine, even off-roading. Bilstein wouldn't say in their instructions it's okay to run them that high if they didn't think they could handle it IMO. Too much liability if that were the case. The Tech was just explaining to me that I would feel it top out more being that high and I do. Now I know what I need to do to address the problem and I just have to decide which clip position to try next.

Ya exactly...#5 on the drivers side and #4 on passenger. These are on the 3rd gen 6112s so I'm not sure if that will equate to the same as on the 2nd gen 6112s.

As for the lean it's pretty much bang on, 22" on the drivers side and 22 1/8" passenger side. As measured from center of hub to bottom of the fender. These were taken after only 75km so I assume there will be some settling after a while

Cool, thanks. I meant to ask this earlier but did you also use a 1/4" spacer on the driver side or just the different clip position?

Thanks, appreciate it! Also hoping to hear some more feedback in regards to correcting the lean or not.

FWIW, the tech at Bilstein told me today that they suggest running different clip positions to counter the lean even on 2nd gens. I told him it wasn't in my installation notes and he stated that's what they do on their trucks there at Bilstein. I know we have one less position on the 2nd gens but you can still run them in different clip positions per him. :notsure:

4/5 in the front, this will lift a 2nd gen higher than a 3rd gen though

I have 6112 set on 4th notch with 1/4" spacer for Taco Lean. I haven't done any off road yet however speed bumps are causing a "thud" or "clunk" noise that is irritating me, even at 10 mph the noise is there. I too called Bilstein however did meet up with resistance, my first call I was told that the strut was topping out and that I should lower to the 3rd notch, I asked the representative if that would eliminate the issue and he said it would make the ride better and that would help with the speed bumps. I too would like to take care of this issue one more time and not trial and error. I'm a little hesitant in moving down the clip to the 3rd notch as it will cost me approx. $450 and if the issue continues that is a waste of money.

I'm thinking of this solution and would like to hear your thoughts and others, 1/2" top spacer and relocate clip to the 2nd notch. My thinking my heights will be approximately the same as they are now:

    DF 23.5"
    PF 23.75"
    DR 23.75"
    PR 23.75"

I'm sure these numbers aren't 100% accurate but pretty darn close.

1/2" spacer and clip on 2nd notch will offset one another but remove the pre load a bit which should give more up and downward travel? I measured my springs as the are, bottom of spring to top of spring, 11.5". From what I understand the spring is 14" so right now it is pre loading 2.5"

I keep hearing mixed review about on road stiffness of the 6112 when on max clip..makes it hard to decide.

Your theory sounds good, however, I would rather someone who has had more experience with this setup give their opinion since I'm still trying to figure out what works best for my application. Let's see if anyone else chimes in. I don't want to mislead you with bad info if you know what I mean.

And I'm right there with ya on the speed bumps. Anything jarring like that makes the shocks top out fairly hard with the "thud" or "clunk" sound you mentioned. I don't like it and I'm determined to find a fix. I'm on the 4th clip position as well with a 1/4" spacer on the driver's side. I'm considering 3rd or 2nd but I'm also considering different positions for each side like people are doing on the 3rd Gens.
Are you considering doing that? I'm doing it myself so it won't be $450 but it's still a lot of work and I really don't want to have to mess with it again if I can help it. :annoyed:

I wouldn't say it's a problem with on-road stiffness really. I actually like firm handling vehicles because they feel more planted on the road around corners. That's totally subjective of course. The problem I'm experiencing is a jarring thud over speed bumps or while off-roading and the shocks are topping out. However, I will be the first to admit I do not believe it is the fault of the shocks at all. It's totally in my setup. I'm a PreRunner therefore quite a bit lighter on the front end and I have no winch or aftermarket bumper weighing it down. When I installed the 6112s several months ago, I was going for maximum lift for looks and to clear 285/70R17 Cooper S/T Maxx tires. I also wanted the front to be high enough to match my lift in the rear from Dakars. You know how they say sometimes you learn things the hard way?! :frusty:

Fast forward a few months and I swapped the 285s for 265/70R17 KO2s for a few reasons. I won't go into it here because I've already beat that horse to death on other posts. I don't want to bore anybody. So now that I have 265s I have the clearance to lower the 6112 clip positions some to improve the ride. But I really would like this to be the final time messing with them and that's why I'm trying to pick people's brains before tackling this again.

Long answer to your short statement, I know...:D

Max clip position might work great for people with more weight up front but for my PreTaco, it's a no-go. I won't blame the Bilsteins, just the installer...ME!!

@PreTaco170- like you I'm determined to fix this issue. I would go to the 3rd or 2nd and different notches for the Taco lean if this eliminated the noise. I too are hoping others could share their thoughts and better yet experiences with this.

Any 3rd gen ACLB guys running the 6112 up front on the 3rd or 4th notch? I'm trying to decide which I should go with. I don't want to get new UCA's and I'm on 265's so I don't need to max it out. Looking for some specific user input since the other cab configurations net different heights. Thanks!

With the cab differences in mind. Setting them to 3/4 would probably net you what you want.
