Having that front IFS completely exposed makes me nervous.

Not very often. Even the stock skid is better than nothing. But I guess if you're full time /wannagofast/ and play around in sand dunes you don't need it.

Thanks man! I would highly recommend the pair, it's a nice middle ground between OME or 5100's and fox shocks with a reservoir. The shock body of the 6112 is about the same diameter as a 16 fl oz water bottle

Didn't realize my bumper set up reflects my driving style. I built the bumper with a 50-100$ harbor freight tube bender. Didn't have 3000$ to drop on an aftermarket bumper and 200$ rigid pods

Those are so much fun, my personal favorite is a buddies 2 seater that he built himself with a Subie STI motor in it.

Oh it is, these are from thanksgiving 2012
Orange and blue buggies are Subie powered, I think the silver/white one might be as well (can't remember) and the other two are VW powered.
The front shocks on the orange buggy were replaced with coil-overs because the air shocks were a little light duty for the application.

So how do you and everyone else like the 5160's. Anyone come from 5100's to 5160's? I'm just trying to justify swapping out my 5100's, They've served me well, but now I'm towing more weight occasionally. Any issues not having the boots? I found them a 4WP for $159 ea right now plus tax.

I'm still loving mine. Keeps the rear planted much better than the stock 4600's. They match the valving of the 6112's better for sure.

Instead of swapping the 5100's out for 5160's right now, I'd just keep the 5100's in the rear till they're blown and NEED replacement. 5160's are definitely a better ride and allows the truck to handle better offroad but it won't be a night and day difference as if you went from 5100's to icons or foxs' with a reservoir

Thanks guys, I was thinking of waiting till they're shot but that could be a long time because its a solid shock. The added travel is a big plus. Hmm I might just have to have Santa bring me a pair. I also want a little heavier damping so I don't know if the valving is the same as 5100's.

A week from Monday and mine will be lifted with the 6112/5160 kit... cannot wait!

Hoping I don’t have the needle bearing vibes after the lift. I’m keeping it at the 3/4 setting. Anyone on that setting have the needle bearing issue?
