Throwing one more question out there for my fellow 3 leaf AAL guys.

When you installed the 3 leaf kit, did you re-install the factory tapered shim that went between the factory overload spring and the axle? When I initially installed the AAL everything was smooth as butter. I did some extra work and paranoia got the best of me so I re-installed that factory tapered shim about 2 weeks ago and now I've got vibrations in 2nd gear from around 1700-1800RPM. I'm thinking I shouldn't have re-installed the shim.

    Any ideas?

There were no tapered shims on my TSB 3+1 springs, nor any mention of it in the installation instructions from Headstrong..

On the 5160’s does anyone know that the purpose of the black o-ring on the shaft is for? Does it have to be placed at a certain spot?

Do you have some more pictures of your truck about to do this lift and trying to decide on clip?

Is the Overload leaf already part of our trucks? Just got this set up and want to do the same exact thing you did.

You can just push it all the way to the top then it will move down as you drive and compress the suspension. It is just a gauge for you to see how much of your travel you used like when you go off-roading, etc.

At least that is my best guess but someone else can chime in if that’s not correct. Mine dried up and fell off after having them on for 6 months.

I just took these in the garage I can take some more tomorrow. But it’s leveled. Shop recommend the overload out because the front will settle and I only really put a Belgian malinois in the back. I didn’t want the rake of a 70 nova. But I have them just in case I ever decide to put them back in. Rides waaaaaaay better then the stock TRD OR Suspension.

    hi there,
thank you for your response. i am getting different msgs on what notch to settle on, for one inch lift on a tacoma 2006, double cab v6 4x4, 6ft bed, where should i be at #2 or #3, 2 driver side and 3 passenger side? i have stock rear springs that were replaced due to manufactured recall this July, so they are 4 months old. where does a "spacer" go? and do i go with a 1/4" spacer of 3/8" as indicated in one of the earlier posts?
    thanks Adis

Haven't read all of the previous posts about this but will share what I know....don't set the sides at different notch settings. Go with a spacer instead. That advice came from Marie @ HS.
I had a 3/8" poly for about 3 years and switched this summer to a 1/2" aluminum. Took care of the lean.
My truck has added weight - shell, platform, sliders. Modified Dakar leaf pack as well.
    Hope this helps.

I'm not sure how I can be any more clear about my experience with #2 setting and new stock 3+1 rear springs. Truck was level at first but the rear soon settled quite a bit and the #2 setting in front was way too high. #3 would be ridiculous. So either go with #1 or get a rear 3-leaf AAL (removed overload leaf) and go with #2 (mild rake) or #3 (less rake but prolly still not level). The spacer goes on top of the driver's side strut in front to offset lean, and you do not need to set one side higher than the other on the 6112's. Ride height change is about double spacer thickness, so up to you which to use.

If your double cab is substantially heavier in front than my '05 manual V6 4WD access cab you may want to try #2 but I do not have a weight vs body/options table in front of me telling difference.

Here's the gen 2 6112 lift table off HS website:

I put 6112s on my 06 DC as well. Notch #3 gave a little over 2" of lift (versus 1.6" expected). On the back I put medium Dakars with the top overload removed. This also gave a little over 2" of lift so all told stayed level. We will see if either end settles.IMG_5185.jpg

I’ve read through most of this thread and I’m still unsure if I should use the 3rd or 4th notch to get around 2”. Going by the chart, the 4th notch should be about 2” but I’ve seen people getting close to 3”. Some people are getting over 2” on the 3rd notch, but I don’t want to be low once it all settles. How long should I expect it to take to settle? Is the chart fairly accurate once everything is fully settled?

Go with the 4th notch if you want 2". It'll take it 1-2 months to fully settle. No way could you get 3" on the 4th setting on a 4wd.

Good luck! For what it's worth. I set mine on the #3 notch, and I'm now on a 3-leaf AAL with no overload. I've got about 1/4" - 1/2" of rake. If you bump up to #4, do an AAL & leave your overload in you should sit just like you're wanting.

I'm looking to get some tire size options with running the 6112's on the 4th notch ...I have a set of scs Ray 10's in the 17 x8.5...4.3 back spacing with -10 offset I believe...I have a 2012 4x4 double cab short bed, not really into the chopping and beating pinch welds.

275/70 too big and will rub?
    265/70 too small?
    255/75 just right?
Tire choices I'm looking at right now will be Cooper at3 Lt, St Maxx, or ridge grapplers.

Any help or ideas greatly appreciated!
