5/5 setting with spacer. Quite a bit of lift in the rear as well maybe a slight rake now. I need to measure it when I get a chance. Think it may have been an 1/8” or so lower in the back or dead even with the cap pre lift. Almost went with UCA’s but didn’t. He said alignment was perfect so the cost of UCA’s covered the install, alignment and tire rotation. I researched the heck out of this and couldn’t be happier.

Sounds great. Any reason you did the 5/5 with spacer instead of 5/6? I guess it really makes no difference so wondering why people choose one from the other. Do you have any lean?

No these were 3rd gens and I didn’t want to top them out on the sixth notch. I would rather kept them at 4 but with the Dakar’s I thought it would have been to much rake. Very happy with 5/5

So you topped them out on the passenger side but didn’t want to do the driver side? So confused...:help: An extra notch on the driver to compensate for lean.

6 settings on the driver and 5 on the passenager....

No I think he did 5/5 with a spacer.

A note on topping out. I'm actually still going back and forth with 4/5 or 5/6. 5/6 I think is a must with Dakars or 2" of lift but I'm still going back and forth between keeping my AAL or going Dakar. What I don't get... is if Bilstein made these and also made the notch settings... no matter what notch you're on it still should be OK. So many people advise against the top setting... but if it were bad or not a good ride why would Bilstein even make that setting? Its not like its a aftermarket hack-job like mixing OME springs with 5100s.

Just an observation I made from all of the threads no one seems to consider. Unless of course, Bilstein themselves say the higher you go, the more harsh the ride will be.

Where are the reports you're reading of people advising against the top setting? Most everything I've read people say the ride is just fine. There's no questioning the higher you go, the stiffer the ride is. It's just all about what you'd fine acceptable.

Just reading around here.. and even Marie from HS. Said she got a lot of reports that at the highest settings... it can be harsher. But then said ride quality is all subjective which I agree.

Gotcha. Yeah the higher you go, the stiffer it'll be, there's no question. My 6112's on #3 absolutely ride stiffer going down an imperfect city street than my Wife's Escape or my buddy's Tahoe. BUT I can run a washboard road going 40MPH plus while they're rattling their teeth out at 30. You'll sacrifice some day-to-day OTR driving comfort, but the overall offroad performance should remain the same.

Lol!!! I didn’t want one side maxed out. I’m sure it would be ok or Bilstein wouldn’t have designed it that way. I figured it would ride a bit better that way. I don’t have any complaints so far.
Pretty sure I’ve read others that’s done the same.

Bilstein recommends to do the 5/6 thing. If they say it’s ok I’m assuming it is...

However from a OCD perspective, I get it

Yup I’m sure it’s fine. I went back in this tread and found at least two others who used the spacer as well. So I’m not that special:D

You’re right, I thought about it as well but when I saw that Bilstein recommends staggering it, I said screw it and just doing what they say. People say you can’t tell the difference

I forgot where I was reading it or who told it to me but I heard that adding a spacer will effect the up travel/down travel (can't remember which one it is). @foxrcing07 was it you?

It just can make a normal shock act in some ways like an extended travel shock in the down travel because you're extending the overall length so it increases the need for UCA's

Don’t a lot of people use spacers tho?

Personally, I feel like if the (updated) 6112s were designed to be used with a spacer then they would have recommended that instead of saying do 1 clip higher for the driver's side. However, since the spacer is only so big I don't think it would make THAT much of a difference but you never know.
