I have been searching through this thread for some good info and I did find some, but thought I ask to confirm what I have read.

I have a '17 dclb off road. For the fronts I purchased 2nd gen 6112 and 2 1/4" spacers. For the rears I did 3rd gen 5160's and ome light duty leaf pack (elo95r). I will also be pairing the fronts with jba uca's (most likely)

My goal is 2.75" to 3" lift after wheels and tires. Current tires I'm eyeing are 285/70/16.

I was told I could do the 2nd gen 6112's with spacers to achieve this without maxing them out, is this correct? If so, which notches should I use and do I use the spacers? A lot that I am reading seem to reference the 3rd gen 6112's and hard (at times) to decipher which gen 6112's people are referencing.

I'd just set the 6112's at the highest lift setting and add a 3/8" spacer on the driver's side and call it a day. You don't really gain anything running them at a lower setting then adding a spacer. If anything you'll be worse off doing that.

6112 and a spacer will not make your truck ride any better. Having a 2.75-3” regardless of what brand lift you have there will be a trade off. More height less comfort, less lift more comfort. Good middle ground is 2-2.5”

6112 regardless of which one you get for Your truck assuming you have a 3rd gen is RECOMMENDED 2” lift max” Your going above that limit.

If your wondering I have 6112 2” lift and have no problems with 285s. It’s all about alignment and Wheel spec. CMC is a toss up but I have that as well.

    Good luck.

Worse off why? Does it ruin ride comfort doing that?

My thought process was to aim for 2.25-2.5" lift with suspension, then make the rest up with increased tire size for a total of 2.75-3". I originally wanted 2.75-3" with suspension only, but yes the more I read the more I understand that much lift can cause other issues with ride comfort or having to make other alterations to make drive angles correct and so on. If staying at the 2.25-2.5" with lift, do you think uca's are required or just recommended still?

A spacer achieves lift by compressing the coil spring from the top which kinda limits your uptravel to an extent. The 6112's achieve lift by compressing the coil spring from the shock body's spring perch.

There's no reason compress the spring from a non-manufacturer recommended spacer when you're doing the exact same thing by raising the spring perch the way the manufacturer intended. I don't think ride comfort is an issue so much as spending more money to do the exact same thing.

You also don't want to try to get more lift from your coilover than the manufacturer intends. Bad things can happen and you won't be happy with your ride quality.

Lots of people don’t spend the extra money on UCAS and do just fine around the city. If your trying to fit a bigger tire underneath like 285s and up and are off-roading your gonna need them to adjust your caster. They do make a huge different in ride quality. Feel way more planted on the road.

Had stock UCAs on 1.5” at one point. I always recommend UCAs. Only 400ish range unless you wanna spend the coin on some 1000 plus camburg/icon UCAs

Thanks for the info guys. I don't plan to install them until feb or so when the weather gets a little warmer here for me to do the work in my garage and right now I plan to do uca's that way I can install them at the same time and not have to do it later when I realize I need them type scenario. I want to do it right the first time and be done with it :)

No idea what my alignment numbers were stock but was always done by the dealership.

Can’t believe the difference in handling and steering after going with new UCAs. Night and day. No longer getting caught or tracking in road grooves.

Don’t skimp on UCA’s. It handles like a new truck.

Kinda boggles me how much people are spending on accessories and mods when a $500 upgrade is all it takes for UCA.

I made the choice to spend the $550 to get upgraded UCA's and I cannot wait until I can get everything installed. If you're going to spend the money do it correctly right of the bat.

I agree and that's why I plan to do the uca's at same time as lift. What I don't know if I need to do are the other things I have seen mentioned like ecgs bushing, diff drop, carrier drop spacer or shims in rear leaf pack. I think those I will wait until I experience something I suppose.

Yep. Lift and then wait and see on those.

UCA seems to be something passed as wait and see but having done them, I can’t believe the difference over stock. I would have done them before lifting had I known.

What UCAs are most people going with? Not trying to break the bank here and going with the 6112s and 5160s in the rear with OME Dakars.

I plan to go with jba's because they are already red and they are only $450 right now. I may go with Camburg, but have read a lot of good thing about spc

I just installed some SPC’s with my 6112’s. I found a seller on eBay selling them for $485 for the newer forged version. I just waited till eBay had a 15% coupon and got them for close to $410 shipped. I like them do far but I haven’t had a chance to use them a lot yet.

Edit: there’s one of those coupons running today that I just saw someone else post.

Pretty sure the 6112's are not recommended to run the 4th slot due to ride quality issues, but you can if you want.
