    Hey guys,

Just bought a new Tacoma couple months ago. My understanding was TRD's have only have the Bilstein shocks but after taking a look underneath my SR5 have them. Do the TRD's have a more heavy duty Bilstein shock or are they the same?

because they might have performed the tsb. Hood scope? color match handles? it would be easier if you had a picture.

Yah you bet eh, from Canada eh. The bilstein's have a blue cover with a yellow shock correct? and the OEM's are black? What's a TSB? Service something? no hood scoop black handles and chrome bumper.

Those are the same shocks as the TRDs. In Canada your leaf packs are 4-packs. Down here in the states, Toyota installs 3-pack leafs because apparently they think we fat Americans like a cushier ride. But if you drive your truck LIKE a truck, they don't really cut it. So here in the states we can take our trucks back to the dealer for what's called the Leaf Spring - Harsh Ride TSB (technical service bulletin) and ask Toyota to replace our 3-pack leaf springs with 4-packs to firm up the ride some. On TRD models, they just replace the springs. On NON TRD models (like the SR5) Toyota not only replaces the 3-pack springs with 4-packs, they replace the black OEM shocks with the Billsteins. It's a GREAT deal for the SR5 guys. And it sounds like it may have come factory installed like that for you. Or alternatively, if it's a US truck, then someone got the TSB done already. Lucky you. :)

Ya it's a Canadian truck. Thanks for that information, really clear and concise. It looks like I got a pretty good deal by the sounds of it. So is there any difference in my suspension and a TRD then?

I'm not really well versed in the nuances of the suspensions ... things like control arm differences, etc. Someone else wil have to help you there!
