Hey guys I've got a 2010 trd off road package tacoma, and i want to give my front end a lift of about 2 inches, but also want the ride of my truck improved. Im wondering if i can just get a pair of the bilstein 5100 front shocks with adjustable height and it will improve my trucks ride? or do i also need to get the back, right now i have the stock bilstein Toyota series shocks, any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hey man. You could just buy new coils and install them on the front struts to get the lift, and leave the rear alone. We sell 2" comfort ride coils that will fit the OE struts. They're a better spring rate than stock, but will also provide lift, and give a great ride.

Of course you can buy new struts too, just depends if you really need them yet.

It will come down to how the truck is being used and how much you are looking to spend.

Like @Dobinsons Mike mentioned, you can get some 2" coils and pair it with your stock struts.

A lot of guys have gone the 5100 route and pair it with a OME 88* coil.

If you want to go all out, you can get a set of King Coilovers!

For you, I believe the Spring swap or 5100 w/ a Spring Swap will get you taken care of!

Talk to @Dobinsons Mike or Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road

If you want some King Coilovers, I can get you taken care of!

I put 5100s paired with OME 884 coils on my 2009 over two years and the ride has been great. It was definitely an immediate improvement over my stock Off Road coilovers.

Bilstein 5100 with 884 Springs. Full audio system. Stealth 6 Wheels. Cali led light.
I took off my TRD sport shocks on my new truck at 750 miles. Replaced them with Bilsteins 5100's and 884's and I have 8000 miles on my truck. Made a big difference. You can really tell the difference if you do it when the truck is brand new.

As a general rule, if you rely on pre-loading (adjusting) your shocks to give you lift then your ride quality will suffer. Buy the right coils for your lift and you'll be much happier with the ride. OME makes several different coils of different lengths and spring rates, shop around for the ones that best suit your needs. 5100s set to 0" (or the equivalent in OME shocks) and the right set of OME coils for lift will give you a great ride. I have OME 881s and 5100s set to .85" and the ride is a tad stiff (because I pre-loaded the shocks) but I like it. When I had the 5100s set to 0, the ride was just as comfy as stock, if not better. I adjusted them because I needed a tad more lift up front to help match the rear.
