Bilstien Suspension

Hopped on the TW for some advice.

Looking to upgrade my suspension. I'm thinking 5100 in the front and 5160 back. Cost effective and I have heard good things.

or do y'all think 6112's in the front would be better. Looking to improve the functionality of the truck on the trails for some adventure!

I just helped a friend do 6112 and 5160's on his 2018 and it's pretty dang nice ride. Leaps and bounds better than 5100's.

 

did your buddy just install the front and rear shocks? or did he add a leaf, UCA, etc?

Mind me asking, what are HD Dakars?

 

people add to acommodate for the load they plan on having. so there wont be much sagging when the bed is loaded.

You can be wierd like me and have 6112 and 8100 rears

 

or you can be chill and get 6112 and 5100 in the rear lol like me

oh man no complaints! smooth ride, with the dakars in the rear as well. helps alot with the loads

I need to take it offroad again. Work is always in the way.

Above and beyond the 5160s. Been mall crawling for the past 3k miles. Life is busy.

I’ve been thinking about the 6112s i do no off road ( i have a sport) but the ride is getting on my last nerve is the better ride worth the cost in your opinion? Thanks btw

 

Research progressive vs digressive valving. Bilstein 6112 are digressive valving. Fox are isually progressive valving. ADS has unique Progressive compression and digressive rebound.

 

can you link to where you purchased your 6112's and 5160? saw that they are on Amazon, I just want to know i'm getting the correct one's.

 

Absolutely. They will be a dramatic improvement over the Hitachi in the sport. They will feel floaty though if you don't have any weight on the truck above stock. With my extra weight they feel firm and controlled but absorb big bumps well.

@SpeySquatch is right. You want valving tuned to the type of ride you want and your driving conditions.
