    I have a friend who is turning 30 in June. He got married in April to a Japanese girl. They live in Tokyo. He is as white as a ghost, but likes Asian women, so he moved there about 7 years ago. I wasn't able to attend the wedding, so the "birthday" gift needs to be half-wedding, half-birthday present.

    He's coming back to the USA on a business trip next week. Problem is, I can't get him anything large because he won't have space in his suitcases to take it home. Gift cards are a no go. Cash seems really lazy and impersonal.

    Any ideas?

    Well, he's a computer science major, so he likes messing around with all kinds of electronic stuff.

    I'm afraid to buy him anything electronic though because he might already have it.
