@Xx Ares xX did the wiring for our harnesses. I believe they were 20 gauge?

Did anyone ever make a harness for sale? How much? I'm guessing this would be so you can bridge the gap from 05-11 OE wiring plug (truck side) to 12-15 OE black climate control plug (knob side)?

Hi! Are you still selling the connector? I am interested if you have any available. I can’t find anyone who is making these and I am not too confident with electrical wiring.

Unfortunately I never made them for purchase. A fellow member and I worked together on it. All the info is here in the thread though. I totally understand not feeling too confident about doing it on your own but give it a shot! Buy extras! It's really not that hard of a mod. :)

This project was the first time I ever built a wiring harness using pin connectors, it wasn't bad. I got 20 awg wire off of Amazon, the assorted colors helped me keep the right wires/pins going to the right location in the connector. Pin removal keys are nice to have incase you do put a pin in the wrong location. Also, borrow or buy some open barrel crimpers, they a specifically designed to crimp the pins to the wires. Watch a video on making the crimps, you use a smaller size of the jaw for bare wire and larger for insulated section to secure the pin to the wire. I found that I needed both sizes of the crimpers in the link below.

The pic below is my finished product! No more silver on the dash! The Dasaita head unit has been amazing! The Scosche Magic Mount has worked well, it would work better if I put the magnetic pad on the phone cover as suggested. I changed the lower center section of the dash to a version from the Gen 2.5 Tacomas because it offered 4 additional switch blanks.

    Nice

    20220616_174451.jpg

Tip Storytime: When mine was finished, I had a little issue. My harness was working but the LEDs were not illuminating. I tried every trouble shooting scenario I could think of and unfortunately couldn't get it to work. 1 month later I squeezed the NH025 connector out of frustration and the damn LEDs light up! I took the harness back out, pinched the pins tighter and It worked!

So if you feel like something isn't connected correctly, check that all the pins are fully making contact before you're tear it apart.

Are the pins in the harness different? Why not just de-pin and re-pin?

I'm planning to do this in my 09. Everyone seems to like the white lighting in the newer 12-15 controls but I want to keep it amber like the rest if the dash. I just want the black dials and face plate. Anyone know if I can just swap the old amber bulbs into the new black controls?

Negative. The amber halogens are removable while the LEDs are soldered to the circuit board.

The face plates are unfortunately not interchangeable. You can pull it off and paint it though. This is what I did before I did the full swap but your still stuck with the silver rings.

This is a go big or go home situation mod. There's no easy solution.

Well that's disappointing. :( Wondering if there is anyway to insert tinted film in front of the white bulbs?

Just curious as to why they aren't interchangeable? Is it the way the face secures to the actual unit? This mod is what is holding me back from doing the black interior conversion.
