I am looking to black out my TRD cat back exhaust on my truck. Opinions on the best way to do this. Paint or powder coat. Just want to git rid of the chrome exhaust tip.

Cut it off, back to where it elbows down high. Then you won't have to worry about hitting something and taking out your panel with your exhaust pipe.

Doesn’t the chrome cap come off?

I would not cut it off out of fear the exhaust going under the body of the truck will cause carrosion.

For our clients that do not prefer a raw steel or polished look, we recommend using a high-temperature spray paint such as VHT. I have also seen clients use similar paint designed for grills/bbq's as well. Either option will need an occasional/annual touch-up dependant on use. Powder coating the exhaust system will add a more durable and long-lasting layer of protection but powder coating can be costly.
