Hi all, I am looking to get a black replacement bumper for my 2014 MGM Texas edition DCSB Prerunner. (see avatar) Not looking to get anything crazy but don't want to deal with a plasti dipped bumper. Trying to figure out why most ads say no SR5 or Sport.
    Here are my choices
    https://www.amazon.com/Bumper-2005-...481216923&sr=1-10&keywords=tacoma+rear+bumper

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/281633391070

Did a search but I keep seeing offroad bumpers or projects. Thanks!

Not sure why "no sr5/sport" but be careful cause some of these aftermarket cheapo models don't have the holes at the upper edges where the plastic pieces clip in. I remember seeing a member on here post that he had to glue/tape his plastic pieces to it at the corners near the tail lights. Not sure if that's what "no sr5" refers to or what.

A super cheap option is to take your chrome bumper, clean it extremely well and spray it with Rustoleum bedliner rattle cans. My current bumper is like that, no primer, just the spray - and it's held up perfectly. In fact, I'm the third owner of it.

An even cheaper option is a local trade with someone who has a black OE bumper and wants your current bumper.

    $0 is really cheap, right?

For what its worth, I bought an OEM black bumper for $150 and had it color matched for $100.

Has it faded over the years due to UV?

There's a few dealers on here but you'd be paying a premium over buying it from the internet blanket of sellers.

I wonder what makes the 3 bumpers different? Just the finish ?

I'd imagine running them through the Google machine would yield some kind of idea, even if only pics of the different versions for comparison purposes.

Still hard to tell which is chrome, painted, base. I'll probably paint my chrome one, if I can't find someone to trade. It's the only shiney bit left .

You can justify it by selling your other bumper for $200 the hitch adapter for $200 then you're only $400 out of pocket on a $1250 bumper after powder coating... Not* counting the free d-rings or shipping I incurred... :gossip:

I did just put about 2.5 grand in my truck this past month. What's a little more? :) Christmas present, right?
