Nice... I will most likely end up buying a set of tail lights that are black...

I'm on my second tacoma. First was 1999 that I bought new and modded with pretty much everything at one time or another for 14 years. Toyota bought it back due to frame rust. New tacoma is exact same truck down to the black color with alpine nav/dvd, tint, de-badged, and softopper, so far.
Blacked out and tinted headlights are illegal in lots of states including mine. You might want to check first. if you haven't been stopped yet, you've probably just been lucky. To tint taillights, I've used the Plastidip Smoke spray which turned out very well. It Let's you decide just how dark you want to go and you don't even need to take them off the vehicle. Speaking of Plastidip, those of you who are still using the index card system, why? you'll do a lot better job just getting over spray on the tires which then pulls off. Watch the videos on YouTube.

If you are painting just the bezel, you won't have to touch them because they should already be aimed, if you take your reflector bowls out then you will probably have to re aim after the install.

Plasti dip man. Youtube plasti dip emblems. Lots of tutorials, very easy to do, and completely removable if you don't like the outcome. I did my sides and rear in about an hour and a half. Longest part was taping and papering off. Then waiting 15 minutes in between each application. Very easy though.

Started off plasti dippin 100% And the light still shows through! Loved the look. Then a bud says, how well do the brake lights show up during the day? So to stay on the safe and legal side, I amended the project.

Ok I think I'm going to tackle this project in the morning. I'm still not sure if i am going to sand the chrome or not. Maybe just scuff it with a green scrub pad or something. I think I'm going to use a flat black. Oh God I hope this turns out ok.
