    Ive read some say not to use any additional sealer when closing them back up. This accurate? the left over residue should be good to reseal? this is what I am worried about.

    Are you talking about the OEM seal that originally sealed the headlight, INSTEAD of adding sealer like the GE Window Sealant?

    Reading the 1st post it doesn't sound like additional sealer is necessary. But I guess if your not seeing any issues after you added additional sealant than its not a big deal.

    Definitely worth doing.....Krylon Fusion Satin Black FTW! I also didn't use extra adhesive, hopefully it will hold up, but I do have GE sealant on stand-by just in case.

    I've been reading this and it's a cool mod. As a paint/ body man I can tell you the main purpose for sanding the chrome is toscuff the surface to promote adhesion of the paint. Spencer has done a great job here of giving detailed instructions. You will benefit the most from scuffing the surface with the sand paper, wipe it clean with a little alchohol or I'd use a little thinner or prep solvent, then spray the surface with a light dusting of acid etchng primer, and paint with your desired color. You should be able to find aersol cans of etching primer in any respectable auto parts stores that carry sutobodu suplies. It promotes adhesion and should help all your hard wsork last longer.
