Seri will send texts through mine. While I am driving entune disables your ability to read incoming texts but will read them to you. There are too many safety features with entune. I cannot change xm stations beyond the first 5-6 channels while driving. However when you stop you can choose as many as you like. What if you have a passenger that can change radio stations.... I hope someone figures out an override for this

I think I actually unpaired the phone then re-paired it, and then just didn't add the contacts back in. So I guess delete was the wrong word to use there.

Removed my phone along with the quick contacts as described. Bluetooth works exactly like I thought it should. I want to try it the with contacts but want to turn off sync contacts under the Bluetooth in my iPhone when it pairs to see if that fixes it. I suspect that's the problem with how it pairs up each time. If I cycle it on and off it works all the time so I know it's something to do with the handshake when it connects.

With all the safety features in the unit, i'm having no trouble with the system as it is supposed to/designed to work. While driving, it reads the texts and will not let you read them as noted previously. I have iPhone 5s and the dealer paired the phone for me. Not sure about the XM, I've had no trouble while changing the stations. I don't have favorites saved as of yet, but it let me use the menu to list and browse through all the stations, selecting any station I wish, at any time.

I am not sure why you would think anyone at BestBuy would actually know what the fuck they are talking about. You can learn more from a Google search in 10 seconds than a conversation with any of their sales associates.

You do have to buy a case/battery attachment to use wireless charging on an iPhone, but I believe there are some Android phones that have Qi built into them (I may be mistaken, I'm not an Android user, but I remember reading about a phone that was going to be released with Qi). If a manufacturer approves of the accessory, or it was built into the phone, then it will work fine.

For Iphone 6 users do yourself a favor and get the incepio ghost Qi case. Works great with the Tacoma. I can literally toss mine in and it starts charging. It gets warm, but I was impressed with how well it does recharge.

LMAO. I can't stand when I hear one of them start babbling off and you know the bull started at the second word from their mouth. Some of the veterans do know there stuff though. I bought a TV recently and standing in front the display model of the same model I asked for the sales guy says they don't and never had that one in the store. To which, I point and say really, you mean that one right there. needless to say I left and went to another one where the guy was on point and I bought from him.

Just got my 2016 Tacoma two days ago and had the same issue with messages and the Read button being grayed out sometimes even though all was setup correctly. Once I unpaired and then repaired but didn't add any quick contacts and removed that section from the home screen the problem has stopped. Now the Read button is enabled when messages come through all the time. Obviously a bug of some kind but I'm glad it works now. I'll just use Siri using the button on the steering wheel to call my contacts.

So I bought 2016 trd sport Tacoma. I have a moto X play. I get messages no problem but it will not use the names from my phone so I don't know who they are from and I can't do quick messages cause they say unknown. It worked fine in my 2014 and works in our 2015 corolla. It does the same with my wife's iPhone 5s in the new truck... Don't know who it's from. Phones are set up properly... Truck is checked to use phone names... Just can't figure it out.

My Text messging stopped working. When I re pair and send myself a text a screen comes on for a second then goes off. All my phone sounds come through the vehicles system.

Funny thing is it worked for awhile. I may send 10 texts a month so it's not a deal breaker for me but it would be nice if everything worked as designed.

I have a Nexus 6P and the messaging doesn't work. Have checked all the setting on the head unit as well as the phone and everything appears to be set right. Still doesn't work. Message notification appears but option to read won't work. Can't send text using voice either. Get message "There was a problem sending the message" or the equivalent. I think it just isn't compatible. Oh well.

Have you tried unpairing the phone, removing the quick-contact screen, and repairing? That has worked for many people.

My iPhone 6 works perfectly. It reads the message to me if I'm moving, lets me read the message if I'm stopped, and lets me respond by activating Siri using the steering wheel button.

So I contacted Toyota about why my messages come through as Unknown and I can not send a quick message back. They said to go into my dealership for help. I went in, they tried everything. Same issue. The tech's phone worked ok, my wife's phonje works fine, but my Moto X PLay will not show me who the message is from. Irritating. So I asked to try hooking up to another 2016 Tacoma and same thing. Everything works for bluetooth except when I get a message, it says from unknown, and I can't send a quick message back. Otherwise everything else works even reads it to me, I just don't know who the heck its form most times.

It's entune dude.. I think they need specific provisions from each phone in order for messages to work. If your phone is not on their list of phones, you may be SOL.

My LG V10 is even more frustrating.. No messages will come through, but if my wife sends me a multimedia message with a pic attached, it will come through entune. Nothing else.

/edit.. I just checked the compatibility list, and my phone (V10) is finally compatible! Except it doesn't work.. haha
