It's hard to say. You will know once you mount it and then eyeball it. That's your chance to make the adjustments if necessary.

I have the CBI version of this bumper and I'm going with the APEX as well. For the cost and what you get, it's just a good value.

This is the FOURTH time I have removed this BA Hiline bumper from my truck. Yesterday I removed it to uninstall the 22" LED light bar; I did not like the idea of not being able to see what the spool was doing on my winch. So now I have got to figure out where to remount the LED light. The only effective spot would be immediately under the hoop and using L brackets. I was going to try to install it behind the plastic grid under the hoop area but too much light would be blocked by the hoop.

How do you guys monitor the spool on your winch if you have a LED light bar blocking all view to it? They only way I could see the winch spool previously, was get on my hands and knee's with a flashlight and try to peer into the hawse. That's not practical.

For the upcoming winter, I plan to place a 3.25" x 22" piece of clear polycarbonate in front of the opening, to keep most of the brine and crap from entering the winch area.

I can see the spool on my winch, but I have to pop the hood to monitor it. I did a Smittybuilt Synthetic rope winch with wireless controller -- so far 7 months in, its been reliable and good.

I have to drop my bumper this fall / winter when its cooler to replace a cracked LED Lightbar lens, but I'm not particularly looking forward to it given how heavy the bumper becomes with the winch installed. I am pleased with my bumper though.

Had mine professionally installed. Instead of the rubber strip around the part they cut, they rolled the edges on the plastic.

What size shackle pins are you all using for the Hiline bumper? 7/8" ?

    Yep, 7/8" pins.

Got around to installing the bumper. Waiting for a 20% discount at HF to pull the trigger on the Apex.

I really like the look of a TRD front skid plate!
I beat the shit out of my steel one first trip out, caved in at two spots and pushed over to the side. But what are the TRD items...$400+? Geez!

A little under $400 for the skid plate, local discount lol. Really, just a drop in the bucket for how much these rigs cost from the dealership haha

Anyone with the Rough Country 20” light bar care to share how you mounted it to the Hiline bumper?

The RC supplied mounting options don’t seem to line up with everything. I’m terrible at this stuff.

    Thanks!

I went with a cheap Amazon light bar for now and I ran into the same alignment problem. I just used washers to lift the light bar until it was centered to the cutout.

I don't have the RC light bar but when I installed my DV8 bar their brackets wouldn't work at all, I used the light bar brackets that came with the bumper and it was exactly what I wanted, super easy.

Hey doc when you do the cutting……Mark the 3/4 inch across the top and draw a straight line correct? I was going to just mark two to four spots across the top and connect them with straight edge.

As far as the angle cuts down toward the ground. Do you cut right in the bend or leave a bit of material out from the bend forward for the edge guard to push on to?

    hey there
Yes you’re on the right track. I marked once in the center and one on either end and connected the line. A straight cut.
I got real picky and checked it with my laser straight edge but really that was unnecessary.
Some guys cut following the curve of the front of the truck but I think it is much less visually appealing. I looked at tons of trucks both with straight cuts and curved
As for the cuts down the side yes I cut right in the bend.

    Hey Doc,
I see you have the plastic tucked BEHIND the small strip of metal on the side of the bumper. I have the same bumper and put the plastic in FRONT of the same strip. :goingcrazy:I don't have a good pic but it looks good and, it's been so long I can't remember why i did this but assume I had a reason. What was your reason for the location please? Did I miss something in the crappy instructions maybe?
