Nope. Not a tink/ rattle. It's a loud pop and something like a grind - tough for me to describe. Right now mine are tight as f***, so there should be very little movement. I tried running them a little looser, but there was way more noise from all corners. With them tight, most of my noise is from the passenger side foot well mount.

This is why I doubt loosening will make a difference. I thought if I drove it with them looser (50 foot pounds - ish) the cab would settle where it wants to be. There was lots of movement, so I tightened it back up (80 - ish) I can reach the fronts with the torque wrench, but need an extension to reach the rear, so I just use the breaker bar.

@Evenflow I can't remember where I read it, but I could've sworn it was you @Crom (but it might have been someone else)that tracked a body creak to the pinch weld behind the fender liners on the forward cab wall. After installing the poly bushings that are stiffer than the OEM rubber bushings, the force of flexing travels to the next weakest link. In this case, it's all the sheet metal that is spot welded together. Really wish I could remember who it was that posted, but if you pull back the fender liner there is a pinch weld that when lubricated it quieted down the cab squeak that sounded like it was coming from the body bushing. Could be the source of your frustration in tracking down the squeak.

Nick, please correct me if I'm wrong on this.

I had the same light sanding idea just to remove some of the surface tension maybe ?

@Torspd when I called ES they actually said not to use lithium grease, apparently it does not treat poly well. They said graphite or silicone would not degrade the poly.

Yup, it was me asking Nick about it but unfortunately that is not my issue. My creak pop sound is definitely from outside the cab. I tried the same thing the dealer did for Nick along every single pinch weld and it made zero difference with he exception of putting puddles of penetrant all over my garage floor :)

Ouch. Ok, carry on then. I'll be doing by radiator bushing install this weekend (along with a test session and some video of the whole thing showing a comparison) and was looking at the body mounts next. I'll follow along and hopefully you can track it down. I hate squeaks.

Yeah, it's def the bushings. I can hear all 4 corners of the cab when I flex the frame really good - same as when I loosened the nuts. I figure better suspension and more articulation should relieve some of that, right? :D

Yeah, I imagine so... I'm going to 887s on 5100s with LR UCAs and Dakars with B110s and soon I'll be doing a shackle flip with 29" brake lines.

And if you have a double cab, you'll be taking out your seats and utility holder thingy.

You should definitely do it. Do you really want your radiator sitting all snug and pretty on nice hockey pucks and your body sitting on worn-out bouncy balls?

I have a double cab and didn't take out my seats? No need for that, just the rear compartments to access the body mounts.

Update, drove the truck last night, kept the music down, heard the creak, but only off of my drivers side rear mount. Makes me think that one is either too tight or not tight enough. Gonna try to get a little more turn on it later and drive it

Ah fair enough. I couldn't reach some of the bolts for mine without taking out the seats. Good to know.

This thread is so full of win. Thanks @58 Siesta I've had my 2nd gen for a few months now and just got done replacing the entire suspension and was disappointed to see the lean was just as bad as before. Going to knock this one out soon!

So, update on my creaky issue. It seems the only cure is to run the body mount main through bolts very low torque. Anything more than just a snug + a couple of half turns with a box wrench and the creaks come right back. Run them just snug and they are quiet...

@Evenflow But wont that allow for too much play in the bushing then?

True, only my drivers side rear creaks like crazy, and I dont think I put any extra crank on it. When Im doing my truck torque check this coming weekend ill see how tight it is and throw some loctite on it just a little past snug and see if its any better.
