Body Mount Bushing Install - now with pictures! And a video too!!!

I could be wrong, but I don't think the bed has any bushings.

 

Has anyone had issues with alignment on the radiator mounts? I took off the driver side bushing and the cab and frame holes do not line up (about 1/8” offset).

Any suggestions on how to realign things without unbolting everything?

 

If there are currently "bushings" or pucks on your truck then its a body lift and I believe its 1 per bolt. If not then there are no bushings for the bed it bolts directly to the frame.

 

Thank You for clearing that up for me. I went to the stealer to confirm, and they also said that there no bushings or cushions as they call them. Thanks again!

 

Finally got around to doing this, way easier than I had expected. Bushings actually weren't terrible for 250K

 

They were doing better than the steel...lol

 

Where are those from?

 

The radiator support mounts

 

So, tried installing the universal rad mount kit yesterday afternoon… Did not go well.

I loosened both sides and used a block of wood and the bottle jack to lift the body. Started on the DS and got the old bushing out and inserted thicker puck bushing and washer - No issues.

Went to drop the bolt in and it didn’t line up. Pulled, pushed, pried, and cussed and finally got it to drop down a little.

Success! So I thought… I went to insert the inner sleeve and lower bushing and the inner sleeve does not fit in the upper bushing! Double check the set that was supposed to go in the passenger side and nope… Not even close!

I think Energy may have supplied the inner sleeve for the truck specific bushings in my universal kit.

Moral of the story, double check everything fits together out of the box before trying to install!

 

still reading through all of the pages but will i run into a bigger mess with the factor jbl subwoofer? Im at work right now and cant get to my truck to see

 

just in case anyone is still researching like me the body mount bolts 90080-11377 are showing no longer available on toyota parts website

 

When that happens, the part number has been updated and changed to a different number and or a different manufacture/supplier.

if you search by keywords and such, you should be able to find the new one

 

so i read a lot about the universal and then more talk about complete kit.

I found the universal 9.4101 but when i look up part 8.4109 it has a third pair in there that per the instructions look like they go no where near the radiator. what exactly do i need to buy to do this?

 

The radiator is a single bolt. All the cab/body mounts take 3 bolts each

 

When i did my radiator, i reused the old bolts so I honestly dont know what bolt the rad support uses.

i will say, my radiator support has sagged and torn itself up enough that my hood has to be pried open every time even after i’ve adjusted the latch so maybe i should have stuck with rubber for the radiator support mounts. Not sure. I am certain toyota should have built those areas way stronger though.

 

I was just worried about the 3rd set of mounts that looked weird in the kit but after more research they are the radiator mounts. Im more confused on their website where it shows number 1 being behind the front wheel area.

 

The rear bushing bolts suck. Period.

Yeh same, I also have an amp hooked up to it and attached behind the seats. It’s a bear. I had the drivers rear SOAKED it PB Blaster. Took 3 days for me to get that out. I may have to cut the passenger out if it’s anything the same as I don’t think I’ll be able to move the backing easily. I had to cut one of the bracket bolts out. 200k miles. I expect all nuts and bolts to be a bear and I’m even in dry colorado hahaha

Recommendation is patience and A LOT of penetrating oil and let it soak. I basically took a bath in it

 

Mine is a southern truck with no rust all nuts are easy to remove right now but Indiana will get it rusty soon enough so figured I’ll just change them now
