Anybody know if there's a large plug available for this hole?

Just bought a 2010 Taco and couldn't believe how much mud and rocks had gotten into this frame member. Mud was just hanging out there till I blasted it out with a flexible tube hose attachment I put together. No telling how many years mud and dirt have been rusting away the inside of the frame. Wouldn't anyone off-roading (or any sane person) want to plug this area???

This is my first post. Thanks everyone for all the help Tacoma World has already given me with my new truck!

Toyota gave us mud flaps. You choose to take them off so you’re on your own bub

No, there is no plug for the cab mounts.

I would rather it be open like that as dirt will still find a way in and it makes it much easier to clean. Just make sure you hit those points when you give it a bath.

Welcome and congrats on the new truck

Stumbled on this thread looking for something else but thought I'd add this:

    20211219_151926.jpg

I 3d printed plugs for these holes about a year ago, they just snap in. Keeps a lot of crud out of there. I painted my frame last year, or at least most of it... didn't remove the cab but I did jack it up a few inches so I could paint in there and replace the bushings. It was like a gravel quarry in there!

I will see if I can upload the STL file here or somewhere else when I get back to the computer. Assuming I can find it.

Edit: Here's my design, it works perfect in my truck, your mileage may vary. The STL is attached.

I'm sure there are other solutions, perhaps fitting a general-purpose rubber plug in there, but the cab mount bolts stick out slightly below the opening, so I decided to just make my own. They snap in, no glue required, and are easy to pop back out. If anybody wants a set but doesn't have a printer, let me know and I'll make you a pair for a beer and a complement, or thirty eight thousand dollars (your choice).

The problem with these openings is that they allow large pieces of gravel up into the cab mount area, which eventually clog the drain holes and hold moisture against the frame. Another option as @muddog321 pointed out below is to enlarge the drain holes. But damn, even after getting in there with a flex spray nozzle and being 100% sure I had cleaned it out, there was probably still a fistful of dirt and rocks hanging out in there. I had to literally scoop the rocks out by hand with a mirror to get it clean.

Speaking of which, if you're fighting rust in there, it's surprisingly difficult to prep and paint the inside of the cab mounts. You really need a little inspection mirror to see what you're doing--even with the Eastwood remote sprayer thing (which I was using as well).

No plugs I drilled the smaller drain holes larger so all the crap would fall/drain out. Where that cab mount is welded to the main frame in the wheel well at the lower weld many get rust thru - I did so just drilled it out with a 3/4" hole saw as it's all in the cab mount not the main frame. All drain well now and shot lots of paint up in there after digging all the rust out. Eastwood has frame spray paint with a 2' hose to spray the internal sections of the boxed in frame.
