Holy shit blue, I might start lurking in Subaru forums to read your posts about oil burning in your new Subaru.

Exactly. Those 2.0 NA engines and the 2.5s in the Foresters are using oil like crazy.

I heard that, but it is temporary solution so not going to worry much. Also I am frame rot survivor, little oil burning is nothing... :D

The 2013 my wife drives has been good so far. 34mpg in an AWD car is hard to beat.

Funny, I was going to prove that you have repeatedly defended Ford over toyota, but after a quick search I've realized you hate everything on the market.

Shut up and get whatever you want. Everyone on this thread is here either to defend Toyota or spite you.

10 more months and I can drop the 1/2 ton :) It's been a while since I could get down those logging roads to those back country lakes in northern MN. Can't wait!

Lol. nothing worse than a wannabe. When you get Toyota then come back... Before than I suggest taking some driving lesson.
claiming you can't get somewhere with F150 sounds like a problem between steering wheel and a seat....

I am picking up my Crosstrek tomorrow. :D
That 2.0 does not feel too powerful but on test drive I got 27 MPG up the steep hill, so this can not be beat.

You'll have to post what you think of the Crosstrek, my wife will need to replace her DD in the next few years and the Crosstrek is very appealing.

We currently have a '14 Outback with 6 speed and the engine doesnt use near the amount of oil that many claim. The boxer engines are a bit oil thirsty due to their design, but ours only uses about 1/2 quart every 3000 miles. I attribute that to proper break-in and being somewhat easy on the throttle. Currently getting 30-31 mpg, not bad for an AWD vehicle with almost 9 inches ground clearance that's heavier than my truck!!

Will do, I like how it looks like. and test drive felt really good. Driving with CVT felt little strange but I never drove CVT car.
I am getting remote start installed, otherwise its basic.
It comes with backup camera , and ....heated mirrors. :D

My brother drives a forester and my sister drives a crosstrek. They both love them. I think the oil problem is hit and miss, some have it some don't. My brothers burns some but not excessively, my sister says hers doesn't.

I have had two Outbacks, both with the 3.0L H6 engine. Neither one used any oil while I had them. My mom has an '01 2.5L with almost 200k on it and it also doesn't use any as far as I can tell. Level is the same when I change it at 4000 miles or so.

The only one we had that used any was a '98 2.5 of my dad's, but it was up around 270K and that DOHC motor was notorious for being lousy. I think it went through about a quart in 3000 miles pretty consistently. That said, when he finally retired it due to rust, it sat out back for an entire winter before he had someone take it away. Drove back there with my truck, jumped it, and it fired right up as if it had been running the day before.

Subarus may have some quirks, but they are good vehicles. My '08 had so many cool things (giant sunroof, Momo steering wheel, gauges that POST on startup, etc.), but I miss my '04 the most. It was built like an absolute tank, and I had put beefier springs in it to lift it about 1.5". Wish I never traded it.
