In my days as an armorer in the Marine Corps, we would send the new guys to find the keys to the basement. Everyone was in on it all the way to the Bn Commander. We would have them running rampent chasing keys for a one story building.

As a mechanic, we would send them for the keys to the HWMMV's as well. Eventually they got smart. So we would send them to find the keys to uncage the brakes on the 5 tons (the keys do exist just not conventional, they are a bolt attached to the spring box).

    This has probably been said.

We used to send our fng's to the aft end of the ship to get a bucket of bulkhead remover. ( consists of the heaviest materials you can fit in a 5 gal bucket) and make them tote it around the ship. And if any of you have been on a carrier, that is a feat in itself.

A few weeks into basic training a guy got pink eye... He was from then on known to the drill SGT's as "fecal matter in the eye guy", it was hilarious.
