    Hey guys and gals, my names Kevin Butts. Figure I'd start my own thread to keep some of my work organized, and to keep other threads in the Northwest section cleaner and to demonstrate what I can do. In the future I would like to actually start my own business (Bootyfab for the name?) and figure I can use this forum as a resume and to connect with people on here.

    To start, I've been wrenching/building/welding on Toyota's for 10 years as of yesterday. My first truck was a 1985 Toyota Pickup, and that is what got me hooked on spending lots of money on a truck, just to go out and break it :rofl: Throught the years I have built 3 Toyota crawlers myself, with all the typical stuff on them. One ton axles, hydro steering, cages, motor swaps, turbo'd motors, etc. Back in the day, stuff was half assed as I was a teenager who didn't have patience, and in the end it would show.

    As the years went by and the builds slowly progressed, I've gained a lot of experience on what works and what doesn't, and have slowly been trying to master the craft. Just over a year ago I picked up a 2019 Tacoma. It is the first out of many IFS Toyota's I've had, that I have the intentions on building (more or less keeping the IFS, for now :D). Nowadays it is kind've beat up, but I have put it through its paces and have been enjoying the IFS for the most part. It's a whole different thing off road and on road compared to a solid axle. I have put it through some of the toughest trails in Moab and back home in the PNW, with little body damage and no real breakage so far which is great.

    As it sits, I have done Chevy 63s, 14'' Fox's up into the bed, hydro bumps, all homemade skids, Coastal Offroad bumpers front and rear, Xo Fab sliders, 1pc Tom Woods driveline, and the normal bolt on IFS stuff for the front. Truck also has Marlin cam tab gussets and DRT spindle gussets to keep that stuff in check, as I'm not the nicest driver. Running the 35x10.5x17 Kenda Klever Rt's, which in my opinion out of running 20+ different sets of tires, are the best all around/capable daily driver tire out there.
    Future plans are 16'' bypasses with a nice bedcage in the rear, front long travel (maybe a straight axle someday) with the normal jazz that comes with that, and probably going to end up with 37's.

    Back to the point of this thread, I have slowly been meeting people on here and helping out on their trucks. I started with the basic Cmc's just to spread the word, and have since moved up to bigger stuff like Shock Relocations, Chevy 63" leaf swaps, full suspension installs, spindle gussets, cam tab gussets, etc.

    I by no means am an actual business, big shop, or a professional welder/installer, therfore I am not responsible for any modifications or future damage caused by aftermarket parts, just myself and a couple tools. I am not trying to undercut any shops or business' pricing, more or less just helping friends out and covering personal materials used. All work is done in my freetime.

    Cab mount chops! Have done probably a dozen of them. Cut back to the firewall, I shape plate out of 3/16" steel, and can either leave the welds or grind them smooth like pictured. Doesn't take much to smooth them out, and looks more factory-ish.
    Can also pound the pinch weld flat, and trim the plastics a bit while I'm in there.

    Shock relocations! Hands down the best thing you can do for these trucks for the money. You'll get more travel per dollar upgrading the rear end compaired to Long traveling the front. Have done both @ARCHIVE garage kits and Bamf kits.

    One for @bttrbsch, which while we were there also did hammer hangers, superbumps, U bolt flip, and some leafs.

    And the Bamf kit on a buddies truck. Would reccomend this if you are on a budget, and only plan on running 12" shocks or less. This is with 14"s, and I had to space the bump stop a decent amount.

    On my personal truck, I did universal hangers cut up into the bed, to retain as much uptravel as possible with 14s. Made a crossbar as well, which greatly strengthens the towers and adds some slight rigitity to the frame. Also fabbed up some Hydro bump mounts.

    Have done a couple axle trusses! A great piece of mind for those carrying a lot of weight, or for those who are hard on stuff.

    Did an Outlaw Overland truss last week on @lefty9206 truck, which was a perfect fit on the 8.75" diff. They are local to us down in Kent, and are super rad dudes that I grew up wheeling with.

    And on my personal truck, I did a Ruffstuff 79-95 axle truss, with somw work to make it fit our bigger diff. Nice to have it on the backside since it adds more strength than a top truss, protects the abs/brake lines, and protects the ring gear for backing into rocks.

    Chevy 63" leaf swaps!
    The best bang for your buck for leafs. Been running these leafs under every Toyota I've had. You can find the leafs for ~$80 at any junkyard, under almost any Chevy truck. No lead times, and if you break one out of town you are almost guaranteed to find a replacement if you call around. They ride phenomenal, and if setup for it, can carry loads of weight since they are designed for full size trucks that can tow.
    On my truck I max out 14" shocks both ways, and that pulls roughly 19" of travel at the tire when flexed.
    Also gets rid of the low hanging, solid mounted shackle hanger, and puts a higher shackle flip in that has some forgiveness to it if you do land on it, since its connected to the spring.

    And can also do anything else fab/welding wise!
    •Coastal Offroad DIY bumpers/skids welded up
    •Hydro Bump mounts
    •Fender trimming
    •Spindle gussets, highly reccomend the @drtfabrication ones as they are the strongest out there.
    •Cam Tab Gussets, I prefer the @Marlin Crawler gussets as they strengthen the whole mount instead of just the cam tab

    Drool worthy @drtfabrication spindle gussets on my rig the other night. Most other gussets will crack over time near the hub, the boxed in spindle should be the solution.

    @Dirt King Fab gussets are also another great option, as they also branch out to the tie rod.
    Some Spc's/Spindle Gussets for @timklb the other week.

    i saw you tie up your rear shock top mounts through the bed. i like that, my kind of thing... i considered that as well but decided to hold out for another eventual rear end redo. if you were local I'd have to stop by.:thumbsup:

    @Buttskevin21 welded in my Marlin Crawler cam tab gussets and did an awesome job. It took a while, but we tackled the project on a week night after work, when we were both free.

    Kevin is a super chill dude, does great work, and has a ton of knowledge about these trucks and great insight on what will work on your build and what is a waste of money. However, he's not judgemental about you wasting your money on something pretty.

    10/10 fabricator and would 100% recommend.

    I’ll also vouch for the great work @Buttskevin21 (bootyfab :rofl:)!
    He cleanly Welded in Marlin Crawler tabs and installed TC LCAs for me.
    He took his time with the install and followed up a couple days later to make sure things were working out. I had fun hanging out and chatting about mods with him. Good to see other members going to him for installs.

    Lets talk spindle gussets and get a little spindle gusset exchange going!

    I know I've breifly talked with:

    Which spindle gussets does everyone want? I'm biased towards the DRT gussets, but understand a lot of people want to keep the swaybar. The best option I think for that, is the Total Chaos swaybar version.

    I'm thinking about the total price being:
    Gusset Kit you prefer+ $100 for welding, paint, and install if needed+ $200 for the spindle core.

    So, that'd end up around $340-$420 for a complete gussted spindle set. Cheapest set of gusseted spindles I can find online are $425+tax and shipping, and possibly lead times.

    If you gave cores back either after install or if I swapped them out on the spot, take the $200 off and you'd be into gusseted spindles ~$175 or so.

    Can also order your spindle gussets yourself and ship them to me, or I can bulk order some if everyone is intrested in same kits.

    Comment if you think that is fair, and we can start organizing a list/order up some gussets.

    No experience with them but @WarFab Armor is now offering a beefy spindle gusset that they say is swaybar compatible. Might be a good option for those wanting to retain the swaybar. I'll probably go this route myself eventually.

    Nada, sway bar basically runs the full vertical length of the spindle so would basically have to ditch the whole boxed in portion/cut out the left side in the photo on the non boxed in portion

    I dont see why you would have to ditch/modify the dust shield, mine fit fine with the DRT gussets and looks like they take the up the same area roughly.
