Yeah I'm not sure if that was called for. If the bloody things work great on a 3rd gen they should just update the application chart.

I've got at least 3,500 miles on mine and they are terrific.

weight of truck and distribution plays a big roll. for example, my truck went up a good 1/2" to 3/4" on the first clip. but i have an access cab with a manual making it one of the lighter 4x4 v6 options. i wouldnt expect a v6 4x4 with an auto and double cab to achieve the same lift.

Correct, there is a height range that's listed on the Bilstein documentation.

Your probably right. I just wish this was explained better on some of the other 6112 threads. If I had known I wasn't going to get any lift at the 1st notch, I would've gone to the 2nd.

nothing is explained well which are why there are so many redundant threads on what will rub, how much lift etc. it would take a lot of time and vehicles for them to come up with a chart for a vehicle with countless trim levels, cab and bed configurations and engine/trans options. look at how many front springs toyota makes for the 3rd gen(12 or 14 different). bilstein makes one so it obviously wont be as exact as oem.

I know you guys are talking about something else but was wondering if you could help me with my suspension dilemma? Can i just get the front 5100 series bilstein adjustable shocks up front with out the back ones or do i need the set of four? i want a lift and a good ride in my truck.

Just get a spring compressor and take off the hat and drop a notch

Easier said than done. The spring compressor I rented is too fat and doesn't fit the spring very well with the 6112 being 2.5"

Don't need a spring compressor. Use the no compressor method. There's even a vid on it. The only helpful tools would be another person and a snap ring plier to open the clip up for the spring perch.

I watched the video. There are 2 things I'm concerned with. Loosening the LCA. Is there just 1 nut per hinge and then the whole assembly drops? And then when you tighten the top nut on the top of the shaft after compressing the spring. Does that tighten to a point where it doesn't tighten anymore or do you just tighten until snug?

If you want the front ones you can get the front ones... plenty of threads on the 5100s.

Bilstein 6112 front, 5100's rear with blocks, camburg UCA, 17" XD's with 285/70/17 AT 3's and a blackout front grille.
6112's set at 4th notch (want to kick it up to the 5th notch when I get extra time)
5100's in the rear with a 1.5 inch blocks (until I come up with money for some Dakar's)
Love the ride, rear kicks like a donkey when going over speed bumps at high speeds but not too terrible. Got wrong wheels so there is rubbing but hope to remedy the situation soon. I like the rake but going up 1 more notch seems like it will still give me just a little less which might make it look more level from the side than it does now.

6112's are killer, haven't experinced the 5160 but I am sure they are 1 step above the 5100's i have in the rear.

Things to get me in over my head
Does anyone have experience with 6112's with a front bumper, winch, skids, or just a different amount of weight? 6112's seem to fit my subjective ride quality requirements, however I will be adding 160# of bumper and winch, probably some skids, sliders, and a second battery down the road. I don't want to shoot myself in the foot as far as suspension.
    Thanks
    Morgan
