881's and 5100's on 0 gave me somewhere between 2.0-2.5" of lift. I'm sure you'll lose .5-1" with the ARB on there but then you'll still be raked high in the front...

Get that thing done and snap some pics :)

This sucks and I'm tired. The bumper won't line up. I think it is because I hit a handicap pole a few years ago. Going to look for a quality body shop in Houston to help with this thing.

    What part doesnt line up?

I got the crush cans and the mounts installed, but the driver's side mount is cocked inward a bit. I'm going to the contact a few body shops to see what can be done.

So the front 5100/881 combo is on, and it looks good BUT......I didn't expect it to lift lol. What I was expecting was the stock height, and since I'm a n00b I assumed the 5100's set at 0 would do that. Apparently not, and now my rear suspension needs a lift haha.

Not a big deal right now since I also installed the Firestone Ride Rites in the rear. The bags in the rear have about 50psi in them, but I didn't want to ride full time with that much air in them. DSM suggested I call Wheeler's and ask about their AAL for 1.5" lift. They also said that the shorter 5125's that I bought will work with the AAL. Hope it all works out...

Just talked to Dan at Wheeler's. Looks like I will be ordering their customer 3-leaf progressive kit. Anyone know what wheels I can fit on this thing now? LOL....

What do you have? And good call on Dan, he is a great guy.

i run 265/76 Duratracs on the stock TRD 16" rims. And have roughly the same lift you will have. Love to fitment, it's basically just one size up over stock, and measures just above 32" But staying 265/75 keeps them skinny/light enough to not need to consider a re-gear at all.

How they'd fair in Australia... idk. I feel like i remember people from the sandier areas of the US liking the General Grabber red letters better for those conditions. After all, the Duratrac is a snow rated tire.

Also, that custom 3-leaf progressive will handle the occasional load and towing better then their 5-pack? Huh. Guess he knows what he's talking about.

I run stock 16" steel rims with Firestone Destination LE 265/75/16. Not sure if I want to tackle anything else right now until I figure out this suspension thing.

I also assume Dan at Wheeler's told me to go with the 3 pack AAL because I already have the Firestone Ride Rite's installed. That is my only guess.

    Here is my new worry:

I had zero plans on lifting this truck, yet the OME 881 coils have me at least 2" lift. The rear was already level with my front because of the weak/soft Toyota leafs before any of the suspension upgrades started.

Now that I have to go with the Wheeler's 1.5" AAL will the Bilstein 5125 (8") shock still work? DSM's website says they will not, but phone conversations with both Marco @ DSM and Dan @ Wheeler's says they will.

    DSM's link: http://downsouthmotorsports.com/i-9...acoma-pre-runner-4wd-pre-load-adjustable.html

Someone please help me understand why they would work with a 1.5" AAL if DSM's website says otherwise.

I must have misunderstood your earlier posting, so it's a 3-leaf AAL 'kit', not a new, separate 3 leaf pack (which i'd never really heard of a pack smaller than 4 come to think of it...)

Have you installed the 5125's yet? What does Marco say about returning the 5125 and mailing out some 5100's pronto to get your project done by your deadline?

I haven't contacted Marco about the question yet. Right now I can only assume both Dan and Marco know what they are talking about since they have great reputations on this board. I suppose I have the newbie butterflies about this whole project.

That would be cool but the frustration is mounting with this truck. I can't find any documentation that will back up the claim that the Bilstein 5125 8" will actually work with the new AAL.

I always say do it once, do it right. call Marco up, I'm sure (guessing) he'll swap you out no problem if they haven't been installed yet. Who knows, maybe 2-3 day shipping won't cost both and arm, and a leg.

Eh should be fine man. 5100s are 8'' shocks as well or 8.5 and they are good for 2.5ish'' of lift. You'll be fine man.

And i know for a fact the Type Bs would fit on your truck...mine came off and 01..haha

Unless something has changed in the last 6 months :notsure:

*edit* important to note that i found a handful of other posts by various ppl stating the 5125's can be ordered in the same length as the 5100's... which throws me for a loop. So it may very well be that your 5125's that were ordered will work with the 1.5" AAL.

What i would do... Call Bilstein up... but then i found this while looking for contact info to post for you.

    Please Note:
BILSTEIN does not sell direct to the public. For questions about purchasing BILSTEIN product for your vehicle, please contact one our many reputable distributors.

Which to me sounds like 'Take DSM/Wheelers advice.' but call one of them one more time, read off your part no.'s and make sure your 5125's are not a 'stock height' shock.

Before I ordered the AAL Dan went ahead and verified my rear Bilstein setup by memory. I just said "yep that is what I have". He said that they will work with the AALs.

Marco sent me a PM saying
Looks like things will work out after all. The body shop (Mr. Fender, Houston, TX) was also able to get the bumper installed (had to use hydraulic equipment to bend something). Hopefully Firestone will be able to align my truck with no problems as well.
