Have I just screwed up again?

I just realized that my stock leaf springs "frown". After reading about the topic I noticed that adding Wheeler's 3pack AAL might not fix the problem.

Opinions? I think I just screwed up again.......

An AAL will help out your current leafs for now...but its a band-aid of sorts. Because the leaf pack you are putting it on is worn out, eventually the AAL will sag too.

Eventually you will want to buy a whole new leaf pack.

Worse case scenario (or maybe best case?)....since I already bought the AAL's, and realized late in the game that I need to replace the saggy leaf springs....

    Rear suspension setup:
    Wheeler's Tacoma 5 leaf spring + Wheeler's 1.5" 3 leaf progressive AAL + Bilstein 5125

The above gives me about 3 inches of lift, and the price is close/cheaper than the Alcan and Deaver options. Since I already have the Bilstein 5100 height adjustable shocks up front I might as well move them up to to the next notch. That should put me about 3" in the rear and I would think 3.5 in the front?

    Yes, no, maybe so?

I wouldn't put the 5100's on any notch above stock with lift coils, if you do it will ride like shit. And 3.5'' of lift up front is a bit much. You will almost certainly have to get UCA's and your CV angles will be pretty bad.

how much lift are you getting now w/ the ome coils and the arb bumper up front?

Also, I would double check with wheelers if the 3-leaf aal is compatible with their 5-pack.

Yeah I have read that somewhere on this forum as well. I have a Prerunner so there aren't any CV issues up front, but I don't want to buy UCA's if I don't have to.

After looking at this thread (http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-builds/77709-2004-prerunner-build.html) it got me thinking "I would really like to fit a set of 285/75/16 tires".

I haven't been in town to measure the front end just yet so I don't know how high it is. After more research the ARB bumper/5100 set at "0"/OME881 setup should be sitting somewhere around 2" after it settles. I think that means the 1.5" lift in the rear should give me a slight "Cleetus rake", but I'm ok with that.

I will also wait until Monday and contact Wheeler's about the compatibility issue and if it still ok to use the AAL on my worn springs. I may just end up returning the AAL's and going with the 5pack or the Alcan/Deaver 8 pack options.

The lesson I am learning....work on your project when you aren't in a rush. This is just like going to the grocery store when you are hungry.....

Here is a cell phone picture (HTC Sensation 4G if anyone cares) of the truck as of yesterday. The rear is currently set at 50psi. It looks good, but I'm trying to not ride around on that much air pressure. I will try and get more pictures sent today.

If the front settles to about 2'' of lift, then the wheelers 5 pack will have you sitting about level. Remember these trucks have a factory rake, with the front end about an 1'' lower than the rear.

Here is a side picture from today. I like the look alot, now I just have to find the right suspension pieces so I can deflate the air bags.

They never got back to me and said if it was either in USD or AUD though.

Maybe for a good leaf set up you should talk to Doug? His builds seem like they would hold up well against a load, alot cheaper too. Just a thought.

Yeah man i did a doug style rebuild for my leafs and got 3+ in the rear. It rides excellent has much more carrying cappacity and really is nice offroad and on. . I did it myself i spent 60 dollars and took about 4 hrs. that was with taking my time and just being out of shoulder surgery so....its really easy. I put 881 up front and have a 2 inch rake!!!! i actually really like it but i might bump the 881s up a bit to get more like a 1.5 rake. Anyhow i vote for tryin that first bud !!!!!!!

If you need any help man just ask doug. I can help ya out as well. It should be noted that rbuildin your pack you can customize them to do anything you want them to. For 1/10th of aftermarket springs that can be a compromise to your needs. also check this post.
http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/194386-tacoma-spring-refurbishing-16.html if you live near doug he does this for members and all. You can do it yourself if at all mechanically apt too!!!!!!!
