There was a thread started over on expo portal, people talking about how to get one over here. Lots of talk about registering it in another country then driving it here.

If you get one through Land Cruisers Direct they take all the hassle out of it. can get it registered as easy as anything else.

Would they not charge some sort of hefty fee though?

It's all in the purchase price of the trucks. You'd still need to get it registered in your local state but the import costs are taken care of.

They aren't exactly "cheap" but the prices are definitely reasonable for what you're getting.

Dude. I might have to do the same. (instead of my double cab swap) I can't seem to bring up the website though. Are those 22re powered?

Most of them will have 4cyl Diesel motors.

I'm wondering how well you'll be able to get parts for those motors. Not being a daily driver you'll be able to wait for internet orders most of the time, what about if you're in a pinch though ? Just the first thought that comes to my mind, I'm not familiar with Toyota diesel applications.

I don't want to pollute your thread too much here, but do you know if parts are accessible for those motors? Also, do you know what kind of power they make?

I think parts availability is pretty good. You'd need to get stuff through the dealer but that's the right way to go anyway. Probably just ask Steve at LCD and see what he says.

    Question for you
I saw you mention at some point thinking about putting another rack/basket on the roof. You still planning that ? And what's your plan for mounting ?

need some ideas. Grabbing a basket off someone local, but I need a mounting system, without spending a fortune, and I wanted it to be low profile.

thinking about making something up myself with metal and some channel rubber, but I'm not sure.

No plans for that now. After I talked about that I built my own low profile roof rack and mounted it using FrontRunner rails. It worked out extremely well and if I needed a roofrack it would be the perfect setup IMO. But I didn't end up needing the rack or using it like I thought I would so I sold it.

you can look back through the build and there are quite a few pics of the rack and how it was mounted.

I saw the pics... remember what those FrontRunner rails ran you, roughly ?

They weren't cheap. IIRC they were about $200
