Yeah I miss the "moneypit" in a bad way. It was a great cruiser and I took it through some gnarly stuff like Helldorado and the Rubicon a few times including the little Sluice and old Sluice. Hard to believe but I never broke anything on that truck. It was sweet for sure.

prepping for a trip to moab in a couple weeks and considering picking up a winch (finally). I've always had Warn winches in the past, but I'm considering the XRC8 with synthetic line this time around. Anyone care to weigh in with their opinion on the smittybuilt winch?

    Box,
I was wondering if you had any issues with driveshaft vibes and what you used to cure them . Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks Rob

I have developed some vibrations over the last couple months. Pretty sure it's my carrier bearing. I will be replacing it soon and adding a CB drop. But I had the lift on the truck for about a year with no vibes until the carrier bearing issue. It's just worn out and the drop bracket should keep the new one in good shape for quite a while.

for your rear bumper wrap around tubes did you bend them yourself or buy pre-bent tubing and just weld it all up?

Both. :) The tube was bent for a roll cage and we didn't end up using it. So I just cut it apart and used those sections for the bumper.

haven't changed much on the truck for a month or so, but I needed to update my avatar to reflect the current state of the truck. So......

    .......new avatar. :)

I didn't realize you had the vinyl on your hood. How do you like it? is it worth the money for the glare reduction?

I have the vinyl but haven't applied it yet so i can't tell you for sure. I just added it to the avatar since I am trying to get the vinyl done this week.

Should help with glare though. I have had blacked out hoods on the last two trucks I've had and it helped a ton. But on those trucks I actually painted the hoods instead of using vinyl.

Oh and its worth noting that part of my reason for getting the vinyl this time around is I'm working on a design for a low profile roof rack to go over the cab. Part of those plans include one of these....

...I'm sure that will cause a bunch of glare off the hood at night without the vinyl. :) So just getting ready for some future mods.

This one is designed for a 01-04 truck and follows the lines of the center of the hood section.

Id be curious to see if someone follows the oustide lines on the bottom of the sloped part in the center of the hood... probably hard to make that work though

Here's a couple of TrailMonkey's (on Expedition Portal) old Tacoma. His hood blackout was wider on the hood. It's a little hard to see exactly how he had it but should give an idea.
