This is how I ended up storing my rtt in the garage, going to store the rack with a ratchet hoist system and hoist it up to the ceiling, but I still need to weld it together.

Hahaha !!! I would love to man.... It's just not in the budget right now. What do you figure the investment would be on a RTT that comfortably sleeps 3 ? I've browsed but not looked extensively and I assumed around $1200. Plus I need to invest in a rack for it.

So maybe in a year or two, I've been slowly knocking out the laundry list of other truck modifications. Allpro UCA's, rear bumper, and dual battery mngmt system all ordered in the past couple weeks. So the RTT will be the last thing left before long.

Your truck has been a huge inspiration that's kept me on track, especially since I know you do most things with the family in mind, it'll be sad to eventually not see it in anymore postings.

It's black, you're looking at the backside of the canvas which is kind of white looking

The nice thing about the Soft Topper is the way it folds up, so even if you don't use it for a long time, it really takes up minimal space in a corner up against a wall somewhere or up in the rafters of your garage

I love mine, I met the owner of the company here in Boulder by chance on my lunch break a few months ago and he really is a nice guy! Plus the Softopper is hand made right here in Boulder Colorado, can't beat that! :D

Adam, what would you recommend for shackles to go with OME leaves? I don't want something crazy tall, but I feel the stock length is just too short. Being greaseable is a plus I suppose, but is it really necessary?

It's hard to really screw up with shackles. they're just a couple of plates so just about any can and will work as long as the shackle bolts will fit your OME bushings. IIRC you're looking for 18mm bolts. The Allpro ones fit, that why I went with those. I'm sure there are other options too, probably Wheelers. Greaseable bolts are definitely nice so you can keep them moving freely as they should.

If the stock height is too short, I'd got with something 1.5" over stock. Again, that's what the AP ones are.

I'll add a little to this... If you're at full weight, I.e. You aren't planning to add any permanent major weight then it is as simple as measuring the f/r and buying shackles that achieve your desired additional rear height.

As an alternative, Toytec makes shackles that have three settings, 1", 1.5" and 2". Just a fair warning, to use the 1" setting you have to cut the 2" holes off... It's stupid I know. Toytec also sells just a 1" shackle without adjustments. I am personally running the adjustable a at 1" and it is perfect for my setup. You'll need to determine what's best for your rig though, since we are carrying different weights in front and rear.

Edit: the toytec worked with OME bushings, I had the standard ome greasable a, but needed more height to match the 882 ome coils.

Second edit... I like your hi lift mount, gj.

Yep. Liked them a lot. They were better on fuel economy and steering feel was quicker. Did just fine on the trails. The only downside was they caught and followed grooves in the road more than the 12.50s.

So, yeah I liked them but I like the 12.50s better. That's just my personal opinion and that could be different for everyone. I like the wider footprint, more tire outside the rim to protect the rims from rocks, the heavier steering feel, and the look of the 12.50s.

Completely different truck but I have the 33 x 10.50 equivalent for my second gen. I have about 25k on mine and would echo everything Adam said. Fuel economy is great, better than with 32 x 11.5 and they do great on all the trails I run. They do seem to grab the edges on the road though.

Bought a *new* truck yesterday!! So pumped. It's in Colorado so I'll go pick it up in 2 weeks. Then its getting some love. Lots of stuff planned for it, but it's pretty solid as is.

    Specs: 1995 FZJ80 Land Cruiser
    187K miles
    Front/Rear/Center Diff locks
It currently has a 2.5" lift and some 285's but all of that is coming off and my 5" OME lift and 315's along with front and rear bumpers and sliders from my '93 cruiser will be going on asap.

Other plans include new Corbeau seats in the front and center rows. Center row will get 2 Corbeau buckets to replace the bench. After that, I need to respray the hood since the clearcoat is peeling. Build a new roofrack and mount a new Autana Ruggedized RTT and it's good to go. Also, I'll probably be getting a new set of KM2s in 315's. The 285's on the truck are brand new so if anyone is looking for some General Grabber AT's that are brand new, let me know.

    New truck
