It's the small things that take the longest......right? I've had the track system for years and when I built my bed rack I built it with an slot on each side for some of the track system. After having the rack painted the track fit a little too tightly so I had to "machine" the track width down slightly, but I finally got it all installed last week. Rack is officially finished with more tie-down options than I know what to do with.

    sorry for the iPhone pic.

You've inspired me to *try* and make my own rear bumper, ive got the welder and the skill just gotta buy the metal. Do you think it would work with a rear hitch?

Not quite sure what you mean about working with a rear hitch? Do you mean you want to use a factory tow hitch? I'm sure you can make that work. The stock bumper is approx 6" tall, maybe more so just make sure you use a peice for the bumper that clears the tailgate and doesn't get in the way of the hitch. Just gotta get creative.

Thanks, Yeah I meant the factory tow hitch, if its not too much trouble can you put some pics up of how you mounted it to the truck, and a few close ups of different angles? I was up so late last night thinking of ideas I overslept and missed class

I'll try to get some pics of the mounting. I reused the frame brackets from the factory bumper. I cuts slots in the back of the new bumper for the brackets to slide into and fully welded them with additional gussets. There is also a large gusset from the top of the receiver tube to the back of the bumper to help support the receiver. Once I add the brackets to tie the side wings back into the frame it will all be very solid.

I debated fabricating new frame brackets but I had a friend with a Tacoma that used the factory brackets on his bumper build and it held up just fine to a TON of abuse. Way more abuse than I'll ever throw at this thing so I went for it.

I doubt I'll build my own front bumper. There are several out there that have the kind of features I am looking for and I can get most of them for about what it would cost me to build one. Right now, I'm leaning toward the low-profile bumper from Trail-Gear. We'll see.

Yes it will have a winch as soon as I've got a bumper to put it in.

Thanks. I like both of them for different reasons. Had cruisers for a long time but I just feel at home in a truck. This is my 3rd Toyota pickup. Had an '85 flatbed, a SAS'93, and this Tacoma. All fun trucks.
