    That's all it takes?

So all you have to do is find seats with the exact distance between the sliders as our 1st gen's and you can do this?

What about height? Are they comparable to the stock seats?

My top 5 is pretty constant, some come and some go, but Adam's truck is easily in my top 2 of all time.

Pretty much. Track width is part of it, and probably the biggest factor in it being an easy swap or one that takes considerably more fabrication. The other thing, as you mentioned is height. A local friend just swapped some BMW E30 seats into his and they are crazy high. Lastly you'll want to look at seat width. Gotta fit the seats between the center console and the door. Stock seats are roughly 20" wide. So find something no wider than 21" and you should be good.

Nothing big but I fabbed up a hilift mount on my tire carrier. There are a few times when I don't have the topper or my bed rack on the truck (the other two places where I mount my hilift) and this allows it to be a more permanent fixture without having to move it from the rack to the top or vice versa.

Not a great pic but the only one I got while in Moab last week. The wide angle lens make it look like it sticks out a lot more than it does. It sticks up past the corner of the top but only by a little bit.

    Adam,

    More questions, of course.

When using your bed rack and it has gear on top of it (not the behemoth tent thing) can you see out the back at all?

I'm just wondering for the sake of being on a trail, I always feel more comfortable being able to see out the back.

For me, if/when i build a bed rack I will only have a small load on top of it, so I'm just wondering your thoughts.

    Thanks again.

At the height my rack is currently visibility isn't great if the rack is loaded. Doesn't bother me too much but I understand what you're saying. It would be better if I could see more out the back. However, if you look back through my thread and see the two surplus boxes that I carry on my rack (that is the most common thing on the rack if the rack is loaded) I can actually see between them with the rear view mirror. So in that configuration visibility isn't bad at all.

Hey man, would you possibly have time to help me get my sliders on? If so can you pm me a price? I would need the gussets welded on so I can paint the sliders, then I would need to have the sliders welded on. I really want to learn how to weld but I figured sliders wouldn't be a very good idea to start on.

Mind getting a shot of your high lift mount with the tire off?? My tire gate bumper will be here soon and id like to do that to it i think.

You have plans for a jerry can mount on the driver side? You gate is kinda short for that but still..

also how did you run you license plate light wiring?

Mine is tall enough to see out through the bottom of it for the most part. no super far but good enough for me. Honestly you just get used to not seeing out the back.

I might be able to. When do you need them done? Do you have material for gussets?

Yeah i'll try to get a picture. Mine is super simple with a base plate and one upper bolt to hold the top.

I've thought about a jerry can mount on the driver side but still trying to decide if I want to do it that way. We'll see. I already have a second latch for another swing out, just need another hinge and I'd have it all.

License plate wiring is tied into the tail lights and comes through the center of the spare tire. I have a receiver tube in the center that the license plate bracket slides into and the wiring comes through the center of the tube.

That's true, I think I actually have worse visibility out the back with my topper on than I do with a loaded bed rack.

Going lower or higher on the height of the bed rack platform doesn't make much sense either does it?

I've been planning to go a little higher with mine but still want to keep the tent below the roof line, but it will open up a little room under the rack for other gear. Not concerned about visibility with that change.

thats why i made mine higher. So i could still kinda use the bed. my tent will be above my roof tho, only an inch or two but still..

    Cool.

I want to take my topper off when wheeling. It makes no sense to carry all that weight especially since it leaks like a sieve.

So I was going to build a bed rack for wheeling... but then keep thinking to myself, "why?" Other than it being a welding project for me to learn on and looking cool, I really don't have much use for it.

    Just do it

If anything it'll be a good tire rack like what CBI makes. Get that spare out from under there
