.....here's the new tire pics. 33x12.50 R15 Goodyear MTR Kevlars. Thought about changing rims but didn't want to drop the extra coin on new ones right now. I actually really like how these tires fit on my rims. Rims are 15x8 3.75" BS so no new rubbing as of yet and they line up really well with the outer lip of the flares. Just how I like 'em.

Rims will need a repaint once the weather warms up. This spring/summer really did a number on them with lots of rock rash. Oh well, it's all part of the fun.

Impressions on the tires so far are that they feel more planted than the skinny 33x10.50s. No suprise with the wider footprint. I like it, but the skinnys had quicker steering response. No noticable loss of power with the wider tires. And oddly enough I haven't noticed a difference in fuel economy yet. Time will tell if that changes. Looking forward to getting them in the rocks once the snow melts.

I like the look of the wider footprint.

Here's a before with the 10.50s when they were new.

Just wanted to try them out. I've heard good things about this new design and I loved the old MTR's I had on both my cruisers and my minitrucks. I really liked the KM2s and didn't really have any complaints about them, but I think these are gonig to be great tires.

I know a lot of peole like the Duratracs, but I hate them. Don't like the look, they seem to wear really fast from what everyone local that has them tells me.

the Toyo MTs are too heavy and everyone that owns a jeep has them

    Nittos are meh.....

Don't like the Cooper STT's tread design much

Love the look of the General Red Letters but they are expensive and heavy and aren't great in some terrain.

I'm not as sure about the mileage. Guys like 45acp and Scuba that are running them are wheeling them a lot but not putting on tons of miles. And a lot of the people locally that I've talked to that have them are driving fullsize poseur street trucks. Those trucks are so much heavier that they are wearing them out faster.

I fully expect to get at least 45K + miles out of them. If not I'm going back to KM2s

wow, i can gaurentee i wont see 45 out of my duratracs.... but i would think itd be difficult to get that kind of milage out of such an aggressive tire like that. thanx for the info, im gonna lurk :)

Not hard at all. My KM2s I just pulled off had 43K miles on them and I had them measure the tread depth. New is 18/32 and they have 9/32 still on them (50% tread left) so if I had run them until they were completely worn out I expect I would have seen 75K + miles.

But like I said, Duratracs are wearing MUCH faster from what I've heard from everyone. I've had great luck with BFG and tread wear. The BFG AT's on my cruiser are my second set of those and the first set went for 70K miles and still had tread but the carcasses were cracking because I'd had them for so long. The Cruiser is WAY heavier than the Tacoma and harder on tires. The AT's and KM2s are exactly the same rubber compound and should have the same tread wear. The Krawlers are the BFGs that will use a softer compound.

If you get KM2's pay the extra to have them siped. KM2s are ok in fresh snow but suck on hardpack/ice nless you get them siped. Was totally worth it to have mine siped. I worried about them chunking in Moab last year with the sipes but they didn't at all.

what i meant was that bfg is known for using much stronger rubber compared to goodyear... i dont doubt u got good milegae from your km2s but im wondering if youll see the same mileages out of the mtrs as most due with the duratracs... purely because its goodyear's same rubber

Gotcha. Time will tell. I still expect 40-45K or I'm switching back.

im with u too... i think on these "lighter" trucks we should be seeing atleast 40k out of tires. im happy with my duratracs, i havent had a traction problem at all since ive had them... but if i only get 30k from them ill be dissappointed. but thats the million dollar question i suppose. great traction vs mileage... damn my life decisions are tough lol

I don't know for sure if the rubber compound changed or not from the old MTRs to the new ones. But I got 50K out of 2 sets of the old MTRs. If the compound is the same I think it should be similar if not better with the new tread design.

I got somewhere around 60K out of my old set and they weren't to the wear bars. Those tires did great offroad.
